History• 1950s > Franz List senior starts up the List carpentry firm.

• 1960s - 1980s > His sons Franz, Reinhard and Manfred List join the company and gradually open up markets throughout Europe.

• 1990s > Expansion of the company's premises and consistent development of its activities in the interior furnishing sector.

• 2001 > List's various operational divisions are split between a collection of autonomous firms. A holding company (List Holding GmbH) is created with six subsidiaries that work on a cross-company basis.

• 2002 > The development and processing of the highest quality materials has led to a new strategic orientation. List moves into the development of "intelligent components" for aircraft interiors.

• 2005 - ongoing > List succeeds in accepting a further order in the business segment "aircraft interior" which requires an extension of the entire production line.

Goods and services design:

List designs and manufactures interiors on land, sea and in the air. Means they build furniture for hotels and restaurants fitting throughout the world. They work inside boats designing the interior. Also they build lightweight Interior components for the civil aviation.

Quality:List achieves differentiation by quality, projects are careful done and they consider every detail. Usually clients are less worried about the money than the final appearance. Due to the high standards required of its projects in the business segment "aviation components", List has integrated its existing product quality into a customer-orientated quality management system based on AS/EN 9100 Rev. A (ISO 9001:2000).

Since the 90’s big expansion List acquires a decisive competitive advantage through continual, ongoing research activity. At the centre of this research are composite constructions made of new materials and processing technologies that promise many new developments within the furniture industry in future.Along with the continual expansion of the range of available materials and processing technologies and the optimization of production processes, research & development also helps List open up new areas of business.

Location selection:The Headquater (Holding GmbH) is in Edlitz (Austria) where it was founded, but they have functions all over the world. For example the List Canada Inc. acts as a sales organ for aviation interior in North America. There is also some activity on deutchland.

Layout design:The layout of the products is based on the technology and on the wishes of the clients. The core competences of the company lies in the engineering (AutoCAD | Catia V5) and a machine park at the latest state of technology (CNC technology). Also chemist experts are required for evaluating the materials.

Human resources and job design:420 members are based on a holding company and six subsidiaries. List ideal is getting the best qualified professionals for the mainly design and producing workplaces.

Inventory:Every product is specific, which means that they produce only the necessary pieces for the product the clients have ordered.

Scheduling:Every product has its own schedule, when a new project gets started they have to coordinate the timetable always focusing on the deadlines. This is one of the most important points to take care of delivering on time.

List Montage GmbH->” realizing the designs on-site while maintaining the quality and keeping to the schedule. In peak times, over 100 fitters – also from external companies – have to be coordinated on site at the shipyards in order to be able to complete the work as efficiently as possible.”
