Rapid change and new development are characteristics of the highly technical industrial society of today. Industrial techniques in common use today were unheard of a decade ago. The age of the technician in industry is upon us.
It is no longer possible for. the unskilled graduate to get a responsible position in industry upon graduation. Today's sophiscated industrial machines require not an operator, but a specialist to run them. Industry cannot afford to place a multi-million dollar machine in the hands of an unskilled laborer.
Industry, then, must turn to a labor force who have the necessary skills before employment. Where will the youth of today acquire these skills? They will acquire them at vocational-technical schools such as Linn Technical Junior College. They will acquire them after they have left high school. Opportunity is here for the non-college bound student. A recent government report indicates that 200,000 technicians will be needed each year for the next ten years.
At Linn Technical Junior College, a competent staff, well versed in industrial techniques, train the out of high school youth. They assist him to master industrial techniques, both in theory and in practice, so that he might obtain and keep a responsible position in industry.
