What does Limited Residential Furniture Pool mean?

Limited residential furniture pool means appliances and limited common items.

Agency members share use of furniture. All furniture is treated as common property.

Furniture pool operations are consolidated. GSO develops an annual replacement

“Limited Residential Furniture Pool Schedule” and costs it out.

A Government Partnership

How does it operate ? Agencies form a Committee to establish

agreement, set policy and determine the “Standard Kit”, (i.e. appliances).

Policy and decisions made by group consensus; Policies and decisions published.

ICASS Service Provider does operations and support functions

KITS CURRENTLY INCLUDE:

WASHER STOVE REFRIGERATOR AIR CONDITIONERS WARDROBES 2 TRANSFORMERS

FREEZER (SMALL) DRYER TELEPHONE VACUUM CLEANER FIRE EXTINGUISHER

AND SMOKE DETECTOR

If needed, kitchen and bathroom cabinetry,mirror, towel racks, lighting fixtures (not lamps)

HOW ARE COSTS DETERMINED ?

A Sample Standard Kit would cost

The Furniture kit would be funded each fiscal year based on replacement schedule.

Replacement cost will be based on number of households and life cycle (currently 6 years).

Other costs are determined using ICASS factors (e.g., sq. ft. occupied for warehouse space).

Part 1 - The ICASS Funding Alternative:

i) ICASS = excellent budgeting and cost distribution mechanism.

ii) Agencies costs charged under separate cost center and location code.

iii) Existing Furniture converted to ICASS property.

iv) For some agencies budget transfer of funds from Program to ICASS may be required.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS/ADVANTAGES ?

Reduces inventory and warehouse space

Housing assignments will be faster and less influenced by whose inventory is in the property.

It will reduce workload and increase everyone's efficiency by having one agency doing the work rather than all agencies (procurement, shipping, receiving, storage and transportation of furniture).
