LIME IN HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE A WORLD PERSPECTIVE CAVEMAN The Lascaux caves in France are frescoed of natural iron oxide pigments applied onto damp cave walls of high calcium content (Lime stone), dating back as far as 16,000 years.
