Dear Friends,

One of the greatest blessings of

working at a Chris�an school is being

able to enjoy, and be challenged by

the many different chapel speakers

we have here each Tuesday. Many of

these guest speakers come from var-

ied backgrounds, and share from

different perspec�ves. Recently, we

have had an exci�ng series by a local

businessman, who happens to be a

father to some students in the school.

He has shared on the importance of character in the work-

place, highligh�ng things such as honesty, Integrity, and a

strong work ethic, and what they look like from an employ-

er’s perspec�ve. Much of the wisdom shared has been gath-

ered from the book of Proverbs, as well as quotes from suc-

cessful businessmen.

In our society, the focus is far too o+en only on the pre-

sent, what makes me happy here and now, with li,le regard

for the future. Many rob themselves and even their loved

ones of the blessings of God on their rela�onships, finances,

and life decisions, without realizing what it is that they are

even doing. It is easy to think we can get ahead in life by

cu0ng corners, telling “li,le white lies”, and half truths, but

both Scripture and successful men have proven otherwise.

Consider Proverbs 10:9 “He who walks in integrity walks secure-

ly, But he who perverts his ways will be found out.“

Is it any surprise that the words of successful men, regardless

of their background, happen to line up with the principles in

Scripture? God desires us to be successful in life. He wants us

to be known to those around us and that reputa�on to be

glorifying to Him. Consider also this quote:

“It takes 20 years to build a reputa�on and five minutes to ruin it. If

you think about that you'll do things differently.”

Our academy students have been memorizing chapters

2 & 3 of Genesis. In their February Scripture, they saw where

one of the many results of sin is that we need to eat by the

sweat of our brow (Genesis 3:19). This same principal is ech-

oed in Proverbs 20:13, “Do not love sleep, lest you come to pov-

erty; Open your eyes, and you will be sa�sfied with bread.“

A good work ethic is essen�al to not only being success-

ful in life, but maintaining the type of Godly character to

which we are called. In a society which is working hard to

villainize the Chris�an life, our moral integrity and commit-

ment to Christ should stand out. This integrity is only the re-

sult of a full surrender of our own rights, and an acceptance

of Jesus as the Lord of our life. Consider this:

“Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look

for three quali�es: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if you

don’t have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it;

it’s true. If you hire somebody without [integrity], you really want

them to be dumb and lazy.”

Are we being seen as people of this type of integrity?

Even those not in the faith community recognize integrity as

being something to be desired above other character traits.

It is important that we make it part of our daily lives to sur-

render our will to Christ, to incorporate the wisdom from

Scripture into our lives daily, and to be that sweet aroma in

the world around us (2 Corinthians 2:14-16). This will give us

some awesome opportuni�es, “To Know Jesus and to make

Him Known” each day!

Around the Academy

Our Kindergarten and lower learning

center teamed up and baked delicious

cupcakes for the whole school! They were

served while s�ll warm!

We are very blessed to have

had Miki Clouser here on Feb-

ruary 7th to share about her

recent archaeological dig in

Israel during our chapel �me.

She had an impressive collec-

�on of original ar�facts the

students were able to see,

touch, and try to put back to-

gether. It truly is exci�ng how

these excava�ons of ancient

lands confirm the truths found

in the Bible!

Tuition is due on the 15th of the month.

Please note: Tuition rates have gone up

slightly for this academic year. We are

doing all in our power to keep them low!

We are reaching that time of year that we are in serious

preparation for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Student

Convention! Permission forms and early entries are be-

ing sent in the first of March. Stay tuned for the schedule

and more details as they become available to us.

Bonnie, a member of our church family, is

in need of an ExoSym Brace to help her to

be able to walk and func�on without pain.

The fi/ng of this brace requires an expen-

sive trip to Washington state for a few

weeks. The cost is not covered by insurance

and surpasses $7,000. We have set up a

fund to help in covering these costs in a tax

deduc�ble manner and 100% of your dona-

�on will go directly to the need. If you are

able, please contribute to this need. Checks

can be made out to Lighthouse with Bonnie

in the memo.

Scripture tells us that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effec�ve– James 5:16. We have a prayer

chain available to aid in brothers and sisters li+ing your needs in prayer. To put a request on the prayer chain,

Here are a few recent prayer needs and praises:

Recycling Program– We are currently accepting

aluminum cans and small clear plastic water bot-

tles. Additionally, the tabs on the aluminum

cans will be separately used to raise funding

for our student, Shamya’s, Cerebral Palsy

treatment.

We are always looking for used Cell phones,

inkjet cartridges, laptops, and Ipods. These

items can be in working or nonworking condi-

tion, and will be recycled to generate funds for

the school.
