This will be a wonderful week for our children to discover and develop their talents to use for God's glory. Due to COVID-19, we have had to make some changes to this years schedule. Instead of four classes where the kids switch every 45 minutes, we have worked it out for the children to explore and learn more from every class we offer. They will experience music, art, cooking, gardening, woodworking, painting and more. We are choosing to look at this positively; students can explore classes that they may never have chosen, and in turn, find a new hobby or talent! Pray for hearts to be awakened to God's love, and skills and talents to be discovered and sharpened. Pray for safety and good health as we carefully move forward with FINE ARTS CAMP! It is not auditioned. These wonderful folks lead us in congregational singing as well and choir selections and seasonal musicals. Please let me know if you would like to join us! Band/Orchestra is an ongoing music ministry. We rehearse on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. If you have a band or orchestral instrument that you would like to play, please come see me. This group is open to students (13 and up) and adults. Classics Choir is still on hold due to Covid-19 and restrictions at nursing homes and assisted living residences. Covenant Ringers is also on hold due to Covid-19 and the close proximity required for ringing as a group. I hope and pray we can get back to normal sooner than later. I certainly miss the fun and encouragement Classics Choir brings to so many in Lancaster County. I also miss the lovely bells that help lead us in worship occasionally. Help Needed: We have a few needs that we would like to make you aware of. Each of these needs involves our Audio/Visual Team. If you have ever seen the booth at the back of the Worship Center, there are three chairs. Each person does something separate. We need one more of each. Media Presentation: We need one person to help run the lights and slides for our services. If you can flip a light switch and turn on a computer, we can train you to serve in this capacity. There's a little more to it than that, but if you're comfortable with checking and sending emails and navigating a computer, you are qualified to learn this position. You will not be responsible for creating content, only running the slide show we have already created. Media Video: We need one person to help run our camera system. If you ever played a Pacman arcade game, you can be trained to run our camera system. This job is much needed, especially now that we are streaming our services to Facebook Live. As an added help, we could really use this person to record our services and post them on our church website. Again, if you can navigate Amazon.com or send an email with an attachment, we can train you to do this job. Audio Sound Technician: We are in need of another person willing to learn the soundboard (We really could use a female in this position. Ideally, she would be able to run the sound during our ladies events when men are not invited). Do you like music? Do you like listening for different instruments, like thumping bass or stellar drums? We will provide training for anyone willing to learn. You don't have to have any prior knowledge. There aren't as many buttons on the board as you may think! Please prayerfully consider serving in one of these areas. We can not keep our services going without more help. We need one of each but could use/train more. Adults and students ages 15 or older are encouraged to serve. Please contact me if you are willing to help us out: [email protected]

MINISTRY MONDAYS

We only have two Ministry Mondays left! On Monday, July 20th, your kids will be at the church all day. They will need to pack their lunch and bring a pillow, blanket, and a favorite board game or card game. Monday July 27th, will be our last Ministry Monday, and we are having Christmas in July! Your child will need a pillow and blanket. Lunch will be provided. NOTICE: We will not have Covenant Kids on Wednesday night, July 22nd.

Church Family… Have you ever wanted God to use you in a significant way? I am pretty sure all of us who profess Jesus want to do great things for Him. It remains difficult to figure out what to do sometime. Have you ever heard of Othniel? He was Caleb's younger brother. The same Caleb who was a spy with Joshua in the promised land. Caleb, no doubt, would have been a hero in his day. One of two faithful people from the older generation to go in! Othniel probably felt like he lived in his brother's shadow most of his life. BUT... In Joshua 15:15, Caleb asked for a leader to do a job (This particular job was to go and conquer a land called Debir). Othniel volunteered for the task and succeeded. Fast forward many years later...Joshua and Caleb have died, and God needs a dependable man for a job. You guessed it! In the book of Judges, Othniel is the first judge that the Lord raised up to deliver the sons of Israel. You never know how God is going to use you when you make yourself available. At Covenant Baptist Church, my prayer for us is that we would be used in a mighty way for the Kingdom of God. You will see elsewhere in this newsletter that to keep doing some of the things we do each week, we need a few more volunteers. Please prayerfully consider helping out if you are able. In the weeks to come, we will be advertising more needs we have as a church. I love you guys and enjoy serving the Lord alongside you! The King's servant, Pastor Bobby

River Baptism & Back to School Event Baker/Cudd River Home

Sunday, August 23rd Join us down at the Baker/Cudd River home to fellowship by the water. We will have food and fun for everyone. We will also have an opportunity for baptism. Contact Pastor Bobby if you would like to be baptized or have questions about baptism. The church is providing the meal: Chicken strips, chips, slaw, mac-n-cheese, cookies and bottled water. The baptism will take place at 5:00 p.m. with the meal immediately following. In order to make adequate food preparations, please sign up online at CBCLancaster.org (click on Event Registration), or at the Connection Center (located in the main hallway). As always, you are invited to come early for an afternoon of swimming and fellowship. Don’t forget your lawn chair and sunscreen.

Many of our ladies have not been able to come to our large group events, but they can talk with a few people in their front yard. To honor and bless them for our August event, let’s have a mini-Bible-study in small groups outdoors at their homes! We are calling it:

Philippians in the Front Yard Saturday, August 8th

9:00 a.m. If you would like to have a few ladies come to your house, with chair and Bible, sit in a well-spaced circle in a shady place in your yard, and delight together in God’s Word, please call Pat McManus at 803-804-0117 or 803-286-7007. Those of you who would love to encourage our ladies who are staying home by going to their house in a small group, and reading Scripture together, talking about it a bit and praying together, please sign up at the Salty Sweet Sisterhood table in the main hallway at church, or call the office and ask them to sign you up if you can’t come to church.
