STEM – Cambridge- AVID Night On Tuesday, February 17, Liberty Middle celebrated STEM Night 2015. STEM night was a huge success! Student participants went home with a Liberty Middle School backpack bag full of great prizes and free science and math materials. Parents and s tudents of all ages participated in a number of activities from bridge building to exploring the solar system. We had many fun activities and exhibitions from NASA, Mathnasium, Civil Engineers, Food Trucks, giveaways, tickets to attractions and more. Some parents had more fun than the students. If you did not get to attend make sure to check it out next year.

“Stem Night” from the teacher’s perspective (Ms. Carlton) The Rocks and minerals station was a little slow getting started. It was Adam Hess and I at first. Adam said “Ms. Carlton, I will go and get us some help.” He solicited Jamal Gibbons. Jamal came and said” Miss, I don’t know much about rocks. But I can get them in here.” Needless to say, he knew a lot about advertising. He made up a sign that said “ Free candy” and knowledge. For the price of a completed worksheet about cool rocks and Stuff. He piggybacked off of the Solar system station and it was on from there. The floodgates opened and we had over 50 guests. I want to personally thank Adam and Jamal for making my station a success.

7th grade Earth Space Science Teacher, Ms. Carlton
