• EXPLORATION¿Do you know somethingabout Exploration? No? Ok,so, let’s talk about it! Themeaning of exploration is,explore the world and all thethings around you. You canexplore deserts, forests andalso your house. You canhave your exploration toolslike magnifying glass, or alsomicroscope. You can exploreplants, insects or your hands.Also, all those things with themicroscope.
And with those tools you cando a research, discover newthings and answer a lot ofquestions.
• DISCOVERY¿Do you know something aboutdiscoveries? No? Ok, so let’s talkabout them! The meaning ofdiscovery is that you findsomething accidentally withoutknowing about it .You candiscover things by navigating oralso exploring. The things that wecreate are very different fromdiscoveries. The things that wediscover are there, in nature, butthe things that we create are notthere until we create them. Wecan model the discoveries likefire. Fire has a model becausefirst, Homo Erectus rubbed arock and sticks and nowadays wehave electric and other types offireplaces.
We can use the SCIENTIFICMETHOD to model thisdiscoveries and like inexploration, answer questions
¿DO EXPLORATION AND DISCOVERIES LEAD US TO NEW LEARNING?Of course! Because, by discovering we learn new things like fire, with fire we learned how to cook or do anything like that so, we have to know how
¿Right? And to discover we have to explore.
Today am going to tell you about three discoveries through time of the world!
ECOSYSTEMS
An ecosystem is a place like deserts, forests or oceans where some animals live and share some similarities. Animals that live in these ecosystems have been adapted to them through
time.
¿WHAT DO WSE USE ECOSYSISTEMS FOR?
We can use ecosystems to take things from them like wood, leaves from the trees or evenly food and transform them. The cities and all the things we build are from materials we find in
ecosystems.
¿HOW DISCOVERED IT?
The person who discovered ecosystems was ROY CLAPHAM in 1920 and 1930 approximately. With the help of the British ARTHUR STANLEY and the biologist EUGENE ODHUME to
develop this discovery.
The second discovery i am going to talk about is…
FIREThe fire was discovered by Homo Erectus. The Homo Erectus
discovered fire because of a lightning that came from the sky. Fire has an evolution through time. The people transform fire.
X RaysThe x rays were discovered by Wilhelm Roentgen in 1895. X rays
are used to see the bones of our body, to see if they are ok or they have an injury into our body but they are not used only for
that. Also, they are used for security, when you are in the airport you put your bags into a tunnel, in that tunnel there are
x rays that could see what you have inside your bags for
security.
Once upon a time there was a little boy named Christopher Columbus. He went to a trip by the ocean,
to prove that the world was round He went to the king of Portugal and told him he had the idea to prove that the
world was round. The king said NO so, he had the idea to tell the Queen of Spain but she also said NO but 15 years later he went back to ask the same question. The queen
said YES, even if she had to give him all her jewels. He spent too long on three boats named La Pinta, La Niña and La Santa Maria until they saw land. They found
Indians that land. He thought it was Las Indias. He took a lot of treasures and went back. He gave the treasures to the queen and the queen was happy. Then he was put in
jail.
QUEENI think that the queen’s perspective was good because she was
more popular and was very rich and also, she was like the owner of America.
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUSI think that Christopher Columbus was very sad because he went to jail. He didn’t have an acknowledgement and got sick
and also he had only 15% of the treasure.
NATIVE AMERICANSI think that the discovery of America was very bad for the
native Americans because they got sick, they had a war. They were forced to learn Spanish, they became slaves and also,
catholic.
CREW MEMBERSI think that the crew members worked a lot during the trip, they
didn’t sleep in a clean place, etc. So what?
Do you know what is to navigate?
The meaning of navigation is getting from one place to another.
We can navigate in a boat, in a car or even in a bicycle. To navigate we have to know where we are going to go, right? But
for that, we need NAVIGATION TOOLS like maps, astrolabe, sextant, quadrant or also compass. Today I am going to explain
about them. They are used to guide us when we are lost.
COMPASSThe compass is a round thing that can show us
NORTH,SOUTH,EAST and WEST. We can be guided by it in any place of the world. So, if we are lost and we know in which
direction is the place we are looking for, we can use the compass.
MAPS
Maps are very important if you arte lost. That is why you have
to have a map in your car always. Maps are used to be a guide. Maps have all the places in the world. If you are lost, use them,
please.
WIND ROSEThe Wind Rose is very similar to the compass but it is very
different, too. Wind Rose shows NORTH, SOUTH, EAST, WEST, NORTH EAST, NORTH WEST, SOUTH EAST and finally, SOUTH
WEST.
The use of this tool is similar to the compass one ,we can use the wind rose to be a guide if we are lost but we know in which
direction is the place we are looking for.
GPSThe global position system (GPS) is very technological. We can use it when we are lost and you just put the direction you need
and the GPS will guide you to the place you are looking for.
