RATIONALESRATIONALESRATIONALESRATIONALES This lesson plan will be a part of a creative writingcreative writing, learning learning

vocabulary vocabulary and artart curriculum. Teacher allows students to use the Internet, continue the story (with using assigned vocabularies) of the cartoon strip, draw the cartoons with a software program or on paper, and present them with the final story in the last class session.

Following this lesson, students will be required to write an ending with using assigned vocabularies, and edit and complete the final story. Also, to present the final output, two different cartoons are required. Students will exercise their imaginations to complete the story with cartoons.

The purpose of this lesson is to obtain skills including writing creative story, learning challenging vocabularies, drawing cartoons, presenting the final output and building teamwork.

In this lesson, students will analyze cartoons strips, continue (write) the story with using the assigned vocabularies and draw the cartoons.

Students need to show their imagination and creativity in order to continue the story, but also appropriately use the assigned vocabularies.

In presentation session, each group present the two different versions of the story so that whole class will see and discuss how the same topic ends differently.

Finally, students are required to present their ideas and articulate the contents clearly.

Each group will write an alternate ending to a cartoon strip the members have analyzed together.

It is required to write an ending of the cartoon strip (using the assigned vocabularies), draw two cartoon with software program or on paper, and present them with the final story in the last class session.

• Students will enter class and get into a group of 4 (or 5) members. The whole class will discuss what is a creative writing and cartoon strips.

• Distribute cartoon strips and each group choose one.

• Each group analyzes the assigned cartoon strip and write (up to 200 words) the descript of it.

• In one group, split into two and gather at computers.

• Each small group pick five adjectives from the list of ‘essential vocabulary for middle school’, (http://www.angelfire.com/blues/writing/middleschoolwords.html)

• With using the five key words, small groups continue story (up to 300 words) and draw the two cartoons (using Microsoft Paint).
