A1/B1: Helping Children with ADHD in SchoolsNez Elik & Mary Caravias

By the end of this workshop, attendees will be able to:

• Review the updated criteria (DSM-V) for diagnosis of ADHD in children and adolescents and ways to identify children with ADHD at school • Review evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents with ADHD in schools, and demonstrate some of these strategies

A2/B2: More than Picky Eaters: Feeding Problems in Children with Disabilities Michelle Ritter, Cindy Zuk, Lowana Lee &Olaf Kraus de Camargo

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to gain strategies to support children and parents to achieve a pleasurable and healthy eating experience.

The workshop will use case examples and videos to illustrate the common feeding problems in children with diverse forms of disability and demonstrate strategies involving desensitization, food chaining and behavioural techniques. All presenters are members of the Eating and Feeding Consult Team (EFCT) of the Developmental Pediatric Rehabilitation (DPR) services at the Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre, McMaster Children’s Hospital.

A3/B3: Tourette Syndrome Brandon Meaney & William Mahoney

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand the current knowledge relating to the pathophysiology of Tourette disorder and its variants • Discuss the approach to symptom management and support in both the home and school environments

• Understand the theory and principles of motivational interviewing • Apply motivational interviewing strategies with children, youth and their families
