    The modal verbs are:

    Can is used to ask for, give and say permission. E.g can I go to the show?Could is more formal and polite than can. E.g could you lend me your pensil? May is more formal and polite than could. E.g may I ask you some questions Sr.?

    A modal verb is used to make known communicative functions like:

    It is not complicated. Just pay attention!

    Mustnt talks about a prohibition that comes from the speaker.E.g we mustnt be lazy people.Cant shows that something is against the rules. E.g you cant speak during the test.

    Have to say that the obligation does not come from the speaker. And the speaker can not change it.E.g they have to respond different questions about the daily life.Must shows that the obligation comes from the speaker. E.g I must change my life.

    Can shows ability in the present or future. E.g she can speak English. Could talks about skills in the past. E.g she could not speak English when she was six.

    Must is used when the speaker knows that the statement is true. E.g she must eat healthy, she is a sportwoman.Might and May express a weak probability.E.g they might travel to barranquilla, they want to know its carnival. Should suggests that the statement is true. E.g It is midnight, he should be at home.

    Could, Might and May are used with possible statements in the present or future. But they are unsure.E.g It could be sunny todayE.g it may go shopping tomorrowE.g you might not be on time.Can shows a posibility with general statementsE.g you can burn yourself with fire Cant is used when something is impossible. E.g he cant be your dad, he is dead.

    Should is used to give recommendations.E.g you should tidy up your room.

    POSSIBILITY ADVICE PROBABILITY 1.Modal verbs are not modify. You can not add s, es or ing.2.The main verb does not have changes too. E.g I may go downtown.

    MAY is the modal verb. GO is the Main verb3.If you want to use modal verbs in past, follow the next structure. Subject Modal verb have main verb (past parciple) complement. E.g you sholud have arrived earlier, the meeting ended an hour ago.
