oUr experienCe as a
“global edUCation
Company”
The Berlitz Corporation has long been established as the world’s premier provider oflanguage training and cross-cultural services with more than 550 locations in over 70countries and more than 130 years of experience. Today, Berlitz is a global leadership training and education company, helping international corporations to develop tomorrow’s global leaders. Berlitz is dedicated to delivering programs for the younger generation and has done so for nearly 30 years. Since 1999, more than 70,000 children and teenagers have participated in Berlitz’s language learning camps throughout the world.
berlitz helps you to be a successful global citizen
for fUtUre sUCCess in a
globalizing world
To be successful in a globalizing society, it is very important not only to learn foreign languages but also to nurture the understanding of diversity, logical thinking, and presentation skills. Berlitz believes that the best way to acquire these skills and awareness is to go abroad and learn through real experiences and exposure to different cultures.
Berlitz International Camps are specially designed study abroad programs offered during the summer and winter. Teenagers from around the world will learn together in shared accommodation. These programs focus on experiential learning to broaden the horizons of teenagers and encourages them to become global citizens.
The uniqueness of the Berlitz Kids & Teens programs is that they are globally-focused and consistent throughout the world. No other company is as well prepared in helping your children in becoming successful global citizens.
UniqUeness of
international Camps
Berlitz International Camps offer the perfect combination of communicative language learning and a variety of stimulating activities. Participants will:
learn and improve their foreign language skills become familiar with communication, interviewing and presentation techniques participate in stimulating, fun activities and workshops have the chance to make new friends from different countries become more aware of cultural differences share fun activities with friends of all kinds be completely immersed in a foreign language-speaking environment
“learning by speaking”
Learning techniques at the international camps are different from typical school lessons. Normal schools often follow a general pattern of teaching new material with the aid of vocabulary and grammar. This is often done in the shortest possible time and many students are not confident enough to speak spontaneously in a foreign language.
Berlitz International Camps focus on “Learning by Speaking”. During the camps, the students learn to use foreign language naturally, correctly and intuitively. Our aim is for them to use the speaking skills that they already have by actively joining in. This means that they practice how to choose the correct verb tense, appropriate vocabulary and sentence structure to fit each situation.
Global mobility has become an everyday reality – consequently, the teenagers of today click around the virtual world and travel effortlessly between continents. This new world of quick changes may poses many new questions. How can I communicate without any misunderstanding? What are the underlying reasons for cultural differences? How can I organize myself in this rapidly-changing environment?
As a global education company, Berlitz hasapplied all its expertise in adult and teen training to create a highly customized solution for the next generation. The result is the Junior Leadership Camp. Enjoyable and intense at the same time, it will prepare teenagers to enjoy future challenges linked to globalization instead of being overwhelmed by them.
HolistiC training
During the morning sessions, we will work on three pillars, ensuring holistic training:
CommunicationExample from the program: Tools for an effective presentation and conducting an effective presentation.
intercultural CompetenceAn example from the program: Values behind different behavior – learning about diversity and cultural differences.
Young Leadership SkillsAn example from the program: Successful time-management, understanding group dynamics and managing individual needs.
Because all training sessions will be held in English, the participants will also improve their language skills by learning new techniques or concepts in one of the fields detailed above. Following lessons in the morning, the teenagers will either work on their camp projects or profit from a field trip: visiting companies or governmental institutions, interviewing very important persons or exploring the multilingualism and diversity of Switzerland. This will help everyone to get a better grasp of all the ideas discussed in the morning sessions.
premiUm qUality
trainers
All of the trainers who lead the camp classes have extensive expertise in the field they are training. As experts, they are used to teaching multinational groups. They are also able to make the learning experience fun and effective by using the highly interactive and customized Berlitz Approach and by applying their extensive teaching experience. They represent the Berlitz motto: „Cultural Diversity as Enrichment.“
