Rules and Information: Junior Class: Open to any 4-H member age 9-13 (age as of 1/1/19) Senior Class: Open to any 4-H member age 14-18 (age as of 1/1/19) Youth may enter one or more categories. Each writing piece must be original. If there is any question, the participant will be disqualified. Entries due by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 15. Entries may be scanned and emailed to
[email protected] or deliver hard copy to the Extension Office. All entries are to be on 8.5 x 11 paper, with entrant’s category, name, age and county on a cover page
and last name on every page. Entries are to be double-spaced, typed with size 12 font, white paper. Songs may be single spaced within
verses, chorus and bridge and double spaced between each item. State winners will be invited to showcase at the Kentucky State Fair. Date TBD. Song writing, poetry, press release and public service announcement lessons can be found in national 4-H
Curriculum ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ and ‘Putting it Together.’ Monologue lesson can be found in national 4-H curriculum ‘Play the Role.’ All are available from the Extension Office

Prizes: Every participant will receive a ribbon and points toward the 4-H Awards Point System. Champions in grade levels 4-8 and high school level receive a rosette and advance to the
District Contest. Rules: Posters must be 14”x22” (1/2 of a standard poster board) No foam core board is allowed. 4-Hers may use any medium including markers, crayons, watercolors, oils or collage. Posters cannot be three-dimensional. The poster must relate to 4-H in some way. For example the poster may be an advertisement for 4-H, depict your favorite 4-H activity, or show what activities are available in 4-H. (National themes can not be used.) Copyrighted cartoon characters such as Snoopy, Bugs Bunny, SpongeBob, etc. may not be used. The 4-Her’s name, age, grade, full address and school must be written in the upper left corner on the BACK of the poster in addition to a brief statement about the message of the poster.

*Early bird deposits will allow 4 payments of $50/monthly Jan.-Apr. and a final payment of $40 in May.
