Established in 1860, Larsen Apple Barn is the oldest family owned and operated farm in El Dorado County. At the ranch, across from their old apple barn, you will find the Rhode Island Greening, believed to be the oldest apple tree in the County. Planted back when Lincoln was president, it still produces fruit. Known to many as Apple Hill, this area is famous for its fall season where farms open their doors and invite people to experience farm life, taste seasonally grown crops, such as apples, pears, fresh apple pie, cider, and honey. The community has gone through tremendous effort to pull growers in the area together under an association that protects its history and offers the public a chance to step back in time if only for a day. – “History of Apple Hill” www.applehill.com Larsen Apple Barn
