SCHOOL TOUR On Tuesday we held our ‘evening’ school tour for families who are wishing to enrol their children at Langwarrin Park PS in 2019. We were delighted with the number of Mums, Dads and children who attended. Our thanks go to the Foundation team of teachers who spoke proudly of the program that they provide and answered a range of questions about the great learning that is happening at LPPS. Wednesday morning tours will continue throughout term 2 and enrolments will be due by August 17 2018. Please phone the office if you wish to join one of the tours or if you need to make an appointment for an alternative time. SCHOOL PRODUCTION There is just one week to go to the much anticipated Year 6 School Production of ‘Olivia Twist’. Having returned to school from a successful camp last week, detailed further in the newsletter, these students are now busy practicing lines, organising costumes, building props and working on their performance skills. We hope that they have a wonderful time and experience the thrill of performing in front of their peers and families. There is certainly a touch of winter in the air now, so it is a little surprising that there are so many jumpers sitting in our lost property boxes located in the foyer of the hall. Please have a look in these boxes if your child is missing any items of clothing. Denise Webster ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS REPORT SENTRAL — PARENT PORTAL As a school, we are always evaluating the ways we communicate with our community and how we engage parents with their child’s learning. Recently we have moved onto a web-based software package that allows us to manage a variety of school functions such as whole school reporting, student attendance and student wellbeing matters. Sentral also has a Parent Portal which provides parents with a secured space to access information related to their child’s learning. This week we are running two parent information sessions which will outline the capabilities and registration process for the Parent Portal. This presentation will be available on the school website on Friday. A family registration letter will also be sent home on Friday. If you have any problems with registering your family account, please contact me on 9775 7533 or via email [email protected]. I will continue to provide updates and support through our weekly school newsletter. We are excited that the Sentral Parent Portal will provide parents with an easy and efficient way to better engage with their child’s education. Richard Barren

SENTRAL — PARENT PORTAL As a school, we are always evaluating the ways we communicate with our community and how we engage parents with their child’s learning.

This

presentation will be available on the school website on Friday. A family registration letter will also be sent home on Friday. If you have any problems

with registering your family account, please contact me on 9775 7533 or via email [email protected]. I will continue to provide

updates and support through our weekly school newsletter.

We are excited that the Sentral Parent Portal will provide parents with an easy and efficient way to better engage with their child’s education.

YEAR SIX PHILLIP ISLAND ADVENTURE CAMP We came, we saw and we conquered! The weather did not dampen our activities or our spirits at Phillip Island last week as our Year 6 students ensured they made the most of their last primary school camp. Students tackled a variety of challenges on land and water, working together on a Team Rescue challenge to escape imaginary alligator-infested swamps or facing their fears on the Giant Swing. Canoeing and Raft-Making were hardly tropical experiences but it was great to see so many students push through the chill factor. The majority of students gave things a go, stretching themselves, supporting each other and often going well beyond their comfort zones which was really pleasing to see. As is standard with school camps, everyone came home exhausted, happy to be home but grateful for the experience. Our Year 6 students should be proud of the way they conducted themselves – well done to all of you!
