The seventh edition of Langton’s Classification continues the theme of single vineyards, regional provenance and individual house style.
he increasing interest in ultra-fine chardonnay and pinot noir is reflected in the new additions of: Cullen Wines
Kevin John Chardonnay, Oakridge Estate 864 Chardonnay, Vasse Felix Heytesbury Chardonnay, Hoddles Creek 1er Pinot Noir, Kooyong Haven Pinot Noir, Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Pinot Noir and By Farr Tout Pres Pinot Noir. This further pushes forward the fine wine credentials of the “Melbourne Dress Circle” (Mornington Peninsula, Yarra Valley, Macedon Ranges, Geelong).
Barossa shiraz, Margaret River cabernet sauvignon and Margaret River chardonnay have all strengthened their positions within the collectible market, further validating their regional provenance. Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon and McLaren Vale shiraz remain solid, based on a foundation of heritage and vineyard investment.

Old cellars at Bests Wines in Great
Western, Victoria,.
The elevation of Best’s Great Western Thomson Reserve Shiraz from Outstanding to Exceptional shines a light on the historic importance of Concongella Vineyard’s 1868 plantings and the rarity of these bottlings. This trajectory mirrors the performance of Henschke Hill of Grace and highlights the increasing value given to our 19th-century wine heritage.
