Monday night was a wonderful performance – so many stars in action. If you have tickets for tomorrow night you are in for a treat. Just a reminder to parents who are dropping their children off and picking them up after the performance – pick up time is 8.10pm. On Monday we did a “stocktake” in our lost property basket. We have:

• 5 hats, in a variety of styles • 2 microfibre jackets • 4 fleecy jumpers • 1 raincoat (the clear sort we sell in the uniform room) • 6 fleecy jackets

Most of the items don’t have a name on them, although there are a couple with a faded name that can no longer be read, or, the name of someone who doesn’t attend this school. If you think your child may own one of these please see Mrs Cowburn and she will be more than happy to show you our collection. A special reminder to parents of Year 6 students. Your information night for Year 7 2020 will be on at Toronto High School tonight commencing at 6pm.

Our Year 5 students are getting ready to take over the roles of student leaders for 2020. For those of you who aren’t familiar with our election process, it is very similar to a job application. At this stage those students who are interested in taking on a role have submitted their written applications and they have been considered by the selection panel (i.e. the staff, who had to look at the applications without names on them). Twelve students have been selected to move forward to the next stage which involves making a speech to the whole school. (We equate this to a job interview). After that all students in years 2 to 5 and the staff get to vote. Our leaders will be announced on Presentation Day and their positions will be announced in 2020.

Our Year 5 students came up with lots of suggestions on ways we could improve the school and I met with them all yesterday to discuss their ideas. Sadly some of the suggestions would have cost us more than $2 million but I’m sure they will be able to implement some of the less costly suggestions when they are school leaders in 2020.

STATE PARLIAMENT HOUSE - SYDNEY 19/11/19 Six students were about to set out at 7.48 in the morning on an exciting adventure to Sydney… State Parliament House. We were all very excited on the two hour train trip and a little bit

noisy. The landscape sped past as fast as a cheetah chasing its prey. The smoke rippling and twisting in the air. Eventually the graffiti on the walls kept our attention before the train came to a sudden halt. We all hopped off at Central… platform 7. We then came down to the steep escalator which took us down under the bowels of the earth. We caught the train to Martin Place and came out in front of channel 7 where they broadcast Sunrise. Sunrise was over but we got to see the Morning Show. We took a photo in front of State Parliament House. It was very grand.

We then walked down to Parliament House. First we had to go through security which was a bag x-ray machine. Then we went and got a personal tour from our local member…..Mr Greg Piper…. We went to his office, then to the garden rooftop and saw another politician who was educated at BPPS. Mrs Norrish might have taught her. When we were in Mr Piper’s office, we were watching something that was happening in the green room. Then we went and had lunch in the park called The Domain. At 2.00pm we went to question time, which was really fun because someone got four strikes. It had been a fantastic experience…Parliament House…we would recommend it to anyone. Oliver 3/4H

GIVING TREE: Our students will be putting up the Christmas giving tree in the office this week. We welcome all donations towards our selected charity this year “Local Women’s Refuge”.
