Sample PROJECT SANCTUARY Retreat Schedule for Veterans and Families
"Project Sanctuary, wahoooo!!! What beautiful people, now we see these people as a family. This past week was one of the best weeks of my life. As a family we learned the importance of spending time together, as a couple, me and my wife learned how good we can be when we work together to keep the family on the right track. Guys thank you for all your dedication, patience and all the heart you all put on this Project. WE LOVE YOUUUU!!!" From a Military Spouse:
"I knew I would have fun, but I did not expect I would learn so much. I have/we have done marriage retreats before, and we learned conflict management, the norms of PTSD, etc., but we never learned who we were and then why that worked in our benefit. My husband and I are the same in so many ways, and that realization has done more than weeks of therapy. The mixture of planned activities and lots of free time allowed us to really reconnect. We are a stronger, better family because of this week. 'Thank you' is not enough."
Sample Success Stories from Project Sanctuary

Helping Our Nation’s Heroes Finally Come Home
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Project Sanctuary
takes military families from battle-ready to family-
ready through outdoor, therapeutic retreats in a
healing environment and ongoing family support
services following each retreat. (EIN 26-1410596)
We're proud to have served 16 new families during our retreats in May! Did you know that we are so much more than retreats, though? We are a two-year program that BEGINS with our retreats and CONTINUES with "customized" programs to serve military families' emotional, professional and personal needs.
Project Sanctuary supports our military families by providing therapeutic retreats, enabling the families to reconnect and reintegrate into their communities through education, innovative services, supportive follow through…and FUN! Of the hundreds of families who have attended our retreats, 90% are still intact; we happily report ZERO SUICIDES, and all servicemen and women who want to have a job are working. Simply put, our program works.
$5 Board game for family game night
$25 Horseback ride through a national park
$50 Transportation to a retreat
$100 Legos and art supplies
$200 Rental car for a week for one family
$350 Bowling and homemade pizza for 10 families
$500 Tubing for 10-12 families
$750 Ice or lake fishing for 10-12 families
$1,000 Heroes Night Out for 10-12 couples
$1,250 Snowmobiling or ATVs for 10-12 families
$1,500 Flights for a family (2-4 people)
$2,000 Flights for a large family (4-8 people)
$3,000 All expenses for one family (travel, lodging, activities and 2 years of follow-up services)
$30,000 Full retreat for 10 families
The Rotary Club of Parker submitted an application for a Rotary District 5450 matching Grant for 2015 – 2016. We are hoping the Grant will raise a minimum of $8,000 to help Support Project Sanctuary. We have a commitment from the Rotary Club of Cherry Creek Valley Parker and are looking at other clubs to help support this endeavor. If you are passionate about Project Sanctuary and would like to make a donation, please make checks out to the Rotary Club of Parker Foundation, P.O. Box 1472, Parker, CO 80134 and your donation will be added to this matching grant. Be sure to add Project Sanctuary on the memo of the check. Donations of $100 or more will be sent a receipt.

6
Monday, Day 4 at Project Sanctuary Today our job was to supervise the kids again while their parents attended a Post Traumatic Stress class.
Everyone had a fun time and the time went by very quickly. Friendships were formed and families were enjoying their time together. The Rotary Club of Parker is proud to support Project Sanctuary!
Thank you Project Sanctuary!
Dear Heather, Missy, Ronnie, Tom, Sharon, staff and
volunteers. I want you to know how much I
appreciate the way you cared for our veterans and
their families this week. I can't remember a time when
I’ve seen such positive results in such a short amount
of time. You are offering an excellent service that far
exceeded my expectations. While their immediate
needs initially seemed unrealistic, even impossible, to
make so much change in such a short time, through
your exceptional staff and the extra efforts of all of
you, I saw a success story over and over. Watching
the family’s fish, horseback ride, etc. was
amazing. To hear the laughter and see the smiles on
children and adults was awesome!
Your position to welcome total strangers to join your
program is challenging to say the least. Your attention
to detail and ability to foresee issues and avoid them
is greatly admired, especially during times of extreme
pressure. In addition, each retreat I can see the long
hours you all worked while maintaining the standard
of excellence that is your trademark, greatly
contributed to your ability to connect with each family.
Thank you so much for your dedication and admirable
work ethic. You’d all be great Rotarians! (I’d be
honored to sponsor each of you!). I will be sending
you a copy of our Rotary newsletter later today. The
newsletter will be sent to over 200. It is my sincere
hope that this helps to promote your program in order
to receive more financial support.
With Gratitude, Kam

APRIL 29
By Mike Oldham
It is hoped that as many of our members as
possible will attend this event which is being
held to inform youth in our community, that
over the past year have been associated with
our Rotary Club, and their parents and
siblings, about the benefits that Rotary has to
offer to them in their futures. The second goal
of this event is to determine if the parents of
any of these youth would like to consider
becoming a member in our club. Along toward
the end of this month emails will go out to the
parents and students asking for RSVPs for this
event.
I will circulate a clip board asking club
members to sign up to attend and bring a
guest if they like. My plan is to prepare an
agenda well in advance and ask our president
and president elect, and Youth Service
Chair, to speak to this group. Refreshments
will be served.
If you have questions please let me know. This
function is an activity of your club's
Membership and Youth Services committees.
Thanks, Mike Oldham
