DESIGN INNOVATION

The Body is aero-dynamic

(the body is narrower at the front) Designed to overcome

friction The side of the boat minimizes the body contact to the water for less water friction The hollow space of

the main body to ease the movement of air through the boat

HOW DOES SOLAR POWER WORK?

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity. In a crystal, the bonds [between silicon atoms] are made of electrons that are shared between all of the atoms of the crystal. The light gets absorbed, and one of the electrons that's in one of the bonds gets excited up to a higher energy level and can move around more freely than when it was bound. That electron can then move around the crystal freely, and we can get a current.

We use compressed styrofoam as it is lighter in weight

We also use a hard cover plastic to shape the propeller and a small straw to attach it to the motor

Solar can replace the energy of a vehicle that uses petrol to generate electricity
