Pro-Chancellor’s Visit to the Campus
Pro-Chancellor, Br. Abhayamrita Chaitanya visited ASE Bangalore on
3rd March 2010. In his address to the faculty, he emphasized the need for taking
pride in Indianness. He also called for a ‘collective effort’ in the field of research
from the entire faculty to lift the Institute to greater heights.
On this occasion, the Pro-Chancellor introduced Sri. P. Venugopal, HR
Director, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, who had accompanied him.
Pro-Chancellor’s speech was followed by Q&A session in which he
clarified the administrative and academic doubts of the faculty. In this session he
also made the faculty aware of the system that recognizes the excellence of a
teacher in the field of teaching; and spoke about introducing incentive programme
for faculty’s contribution in the field of research.
Dean Academics at TREAT - 2010
Dr. Nagaraj B. N., Dean Academics was invited to attend the deliberations of
“TREAT-2010”, the International Conference on “Trends and Advances in
Transportation Engineering” held by Association of Bangalore University Highway
Engineering Alumni on 10th and 11th March 2010 in Bangalore. Dr. Nagaraj
was also a panelist on the subject “The Role of Engineering Colleges- the Way
Forward”.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS
A technical paper “ Remote Monitoring of Patient Parameters Using Body
Area Networks” won the ‘Best Paper Award’ at the National Conference on
“Intelligent and Efficient Electrical Systems” organized by Sri Sai Ram
Engineering College, Chennai on 5th March 2010. This paper was jointly
authored by Ashwini Mary Job, Deepika Padiyar, Kishore Shek Ahmed and
Vaishak Venkat students of VIII semester EIE under the guidance of faculty K.

A paper titled “Study of Graphene Based Transistor - the BISFET” presented
by V. Naveen Kumar and Santosh Hariharan, Students of EIE VI semester,
won the ‘Best Paper Award’ at National Level Technical Symposium
organized by ‘Society of Electronics & Communication’ at TJ Institute of
Technology, Chennai on 5th March 2010
Mr. Gurucharan V. Karnad and Mr. Ninad R. N., students of VIII semester ECE,

CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMYFACULTY PARTICIPATION
Ms. Deepa K. R. and Mr. Umesh N. participated in Cisco SAARC Academy
Meet conducted by Cisco Systems at Taj Residency, Bangalore on 26th March
2010. At the SAARC Academy Meet, Cisco Systems appreciated the
‘Networking Club’ running as part of Cisco Networking Academy at Amrita,
Bangalore campus for successfully conducting a National level Technical Fest,
Netwarz ‘09.

Networking Club and Cisco Networking Academy jointly conducted a
workshop for the students on “Internet Simulation” on 10th March 2010. The
workshop was also marked by an invited talk by Mr. Shripad Sengaonkar
from Juniper Networks.
Cisco Systems organized an Interactive session with top lady executives of
Cisco Systems for the college girls in Bangalore on 20th March 2010. This
program was attended by students from various colleges in Bangalore, and
28 students from different branches of ASE, Bangalore.
Mr. Luca Lepore, Education Program Manager – East Mediterranean, Cisco
Networking Academy, visited the Cisco Networking Academy at ASE
Bangalore on 31st March 2010. CCNA students took this opportunity to have
an interactive session with him on the career opportunities in the East
Mediterranean.

The month of March was eventful for the Placement Cell gearing up for the
Placements of the 2007 batch. Various training companies of the city were
roped in by the Placement cell to provide training on technical and soft skills for

March 2010.
TIME conducted a seminar on CAT for the aspiring students on 2nd March
