3KOL BIALIK | FEBRUARY 2015
Paul OrlanderPresident - Board of Directors
Over the last fourteen years that I have been involved with Bialik, I have had the great opportunity to see this wonderful school evolve and grow providing children with an excellent education, a strong sense of Jewish values and a love for Israel. Our alumni have gone on to become leaders in Hillel at their universities, get involved with Canadian community organizations and become strong advocates for Israel.
The dream of a second branch of Bialik became a reality in September 2013 when The Ben and Edith Himel Education Centre opened on the Joesph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus. The school launched with one JK, one SK and one grade 1 class. However, the demand for a Bialik Jewish education in the Northern GTA was strong and the need to open additional classes to accommodate students was quickly recognized. The Board of Directors decided to add phase 1B to accelerate construction so that the school would not have to turn any child away from receiving a Bialik Jewish education. Phase 1B of construction will begin in January 2015 and will be completed in July 2015.
We have strengthened Bialik’s capabilities around our four pillars: Academic Excellence, Ahavat Yisrael, Jewish Values and Mentchleichkeit and Accessibility. Over the past year, we have continued groundbreaking research efforts on Ahavat Yisrael, to deepen our understanding of how our students define their affinity with Israel and Jewish identity, and strengthen our programming to support that. Bialik has also undertaken new strategic educational goals for both the Jewish and general studies. These include Hebrew fluency, technology and meeting the needs of diverse learners.
The Viewmount branch continues to thrive and capital improvements continue to be made to the school. The Viewmount Playground Campaign was launched in September to raise funds for a renovation of the outdoor space. Construction will begin as soon as students leave in June and the playground will be ready for their return in September.
As the board comes to the end of its term, we are very proud of the direc-tion Bialik is headed in. We will continue to work hard to guarantee that Bialik grows even stronger and for many years to come.
Jodi TanentzapVice President & Chair of the Development Committee
It is a great pleasure and honour to serve as the Vice President of the Board of Directors and as the Chair of the Develop-ment Committee. Since I have been in these roles I have seen the school grow and am delighted at the progress. Bialik is a school that is guided by its four pillars and a commitment to Tzedakah. It also encour-ages its students to participate in acts of Tikkun Olam and other personal mitzvot.
One such initiative is Bialik’s involvement with ECHOage. ECHOage teaches students about the act of paying it forward. Their gift goes towards tuition support ensuring that no Jewish child is denied a Bialik education and has access to the school. It is heartening to see the worthwhile causes our children support.
On a personal level, I feel privileged to have been able to support Bialik and to help build for future generations as previous generations built for my children. As we look toward the future we are proud and excited about the direction of where Bialik is going. Your support helps us achieve our goals.
Shana HarrisHead of School
When our visionary founders established Bialik 53 years ago, could they have predicted how successfully they were building for the future? From our humble beginnings as a 61-student school in 1961, we have grown into a school with two branches and 926 students!
Over the next twelve months we will be engaged in construction projects
that will both expand and enhance each of our two branches. Demand for registration at our new Ben and Edith Himel Education Centre
on the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus has required us to ac-celerate construction and build the next phase several years ahead of schedule. This will enable us to open two classes in each of our younger grades.
Construction of our exciting new schoolyard at Viewmount will take place over the summer. It will provide green space, areas for physical activi-ties and engaging play opportunities for all of our students.
We thank our generous donors who have already stepped up to help make both of these dreams a reality. You all uphold the tradition of mi’dor la’dor by helping Bialik continue to grow for future generations.
Greetings From the Bialik Family

Beverley YoungHimel Branch Principal
What a thrill it is to welcome our graduates back to Bialik as parents! We, at Himel, are honoured that Jonathan Spinner (dad of Gabe in JK2), Rani Mann (dad of Rachael in SK and Jacob in grade 2), Limore Twena (mom of Gabriella Zisckind in SK) and Alisa Daly (mom of Ben Daly in grade 1) have chosen to trust the education of their children to us. They embody the foundation of the
Jewish value of L’dor Vador, passing on the torch of a Bialik education from one generation to the next.
Our new families add a rich and warm spirit of community as we grow our fledging start-up branch year by year and as our dream of a two-branch school unfolds. It is the commitment and investment of our families now that will ensure a strong and vibrant future for our current and future students. We are excited to grow together and to share the honour of building our school which will be a home-away-from-home and a place where strong Jewish memories will form the foundation of Jewish identity for our Jewish children north of Steeles.
Benjy Cohen Viewmount Branch Principal
Bialik has always had a proud tradition of raising Tzedakah for worthwhile institu-tions — both Jewish and secular — in the GTA and worldwide. Our aim is to nurture a commitment to social awareness and obli-gation, creating the leaders of tomorrow’s Jewish community.
Our newly redesigned Tzedakah pro-gram envisions four spheres, each with its own campaign and educational objectives:
Sphere #1 – Our Bialik FamilyOur students will learn about the financial sacrifices that all families make
to provide their children with a Bialik Jewish education, and the values that the decision to send them to Bialik represents. We seek to raise funds for tuition support for those families that need assistance to access a Bialik education.
Sphere #2 – Our Jewish CommunityOur students will learn about diversity, the range of needs of children their
age, and the importance of supporting other Jews in our local community. We will raise funds for Zareinu — a GTA Jewish day school and treatment centre for children with a wide range of physical and developmental challenges.
Sphere #3 – The Wider Civic SocietyStudents will learn about the human body, healthy living habits, and the
need to support secular institutions that promote health and quality of life in our city. We will also raise funds for Sick Kids Hospital.
Sphere #4 – IsraelStudents will learn about the interconnectedness of Israel and com-
munities such as ours in the Diaspora, different populations in Israel and the value of reaching out to Israelis in need. We will raise money for Na’amat, a women’s Zionist organization that funds day care centres and other social service organizations in Israel.
We believe that this investment in our children today will pay dividends to the Jewish community in years to come!
Greetings From the Bialik Family

5KOL BIALIK | FEBRUARY 2015
The Folk Shule was an after-school program run by Labor Zionists organizations. From Monday through Thursday Janis studied at the Folk Shule and learned Hebrew, Yiddish and Jewish history, with a focus on Jewish traditions and culture.
But each day Janis was re-ceiving much more than a Zionist
education; she was establishing the Jewish destiny of her and her family’s life.Finding a connection with Jewish peoplehood, Janis later decided to
spend a year living and working in Israel. Thanks to her after-school studies, it was an easy transition. After meeting her husband and getting married, they eventually moved back to Toronto and started their family. When it came time to choose a school for their children, Janis and her husband, David, were set on sending them to the Folk Shule, now Bialik, a modern Hebrew day school.
“We wanted our kids to be as comfortable on Ben-Yehuda Street as they would be on Yonge Street,” explained Janis. To achieve this goal, she knew her children needed a strong foundation in the culture, history and language of the Jewish people, something only Bialik could provide.
Right away children Joanna and Jonathan found comfort in Bialik; it was a place where they could grow their Jewish identity, as had their mother. Jonathan explained, “The most valuable outcome of my Bialik education has been the level of knowledge and understanding I gained with respect to Israel and Judaism.”
When it came time for Joanna, Jonathan and their spouses to decide where to send their own children, Bialik was the natural choice. Jonathan wanted a similar sense of Jewish identity for his kids. “My hope is that my chil-dren can experience the same combination of intellectual and emotional love of Judaism, the same degree of connectedness to Israel, and the same pride and sense of belonging I have felt thanks to Bialik.”
Joanna chose Bialik for its strong sense of belonging, sharing that, “A school is an extension of the home — and Bialik’s pillars align to our house-hold philosophies and priorities. For the hours of the day that my kids are at Bialik, I know that our family’s values are being reinforced.”
What started as two parents wanting to give their daughter a Jewish education has become so much more. Three generations of Spinners have now attended Bialik thanks to Janis’ deep connection to Israel and her commitment to Jewish education (she has been a Na’amat Bialik board member for over 30 years). If there is one fundamental lesson that Bialik has taught the Spinner family, it is that Judaism is essentially about continuity and tradition. From the Folk Shule to watching her grandchildren thrive at both Bialik branches, Janis and the Spinners have given a whole new meaning to the phrase “Bialik family.”
One September afternoon in the mid-1950s Janis Spinner (nee Starkman) attended after-school classes at the Folk Shule at 12 Viewmount Ave. It had been a dream of her parents to send their daughter to a Zionist school and it was finally coming true.

I am the Director of Policy for Canada at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a think tank focused on national security and foreign policy. I specialize in drafting legislative responses to terrorism, and felt very hon-oured to be awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for my “advocacy on behalf of Canadian victims of terrorism” and my “advancement of sound public policy on terrorism issues in Canada.”
Bialik provided me with three important things in my formative years: an excellent education, which laid the foundation and desire for many more years of study; a social conscience, which has inspired me to work in a field concerned with the safety of Canada and its allies; and a love for the State of Israel, the only liberal democratic country in the Middle East.

Jeffrey Veidlinger is the Joseph Brodsky Collegiate Professor of History and Judaic Studies at the University of Michigan. Jeff first learned Yiddish in third grade at Bialik, and has continued to use the language professionally in his studies of Eastern European Jewish history. Despite his “D” in fifth grade Jewish history, much of what he learned in elementary school continues to inform his historical approach. He is the author of three award-winning books. His most recent book, In the Shadow of the Shtetl: Small-Town Jewish Life in Soviet Ukraine, which won a Canadian Jewish Book Award, tells the story of Jewish life in twentieth-century Ukraine based on Yiddish language oral histories he recorded in small towns throughout Ukraine. His other books include The Moscow State Yiddish Theater: Jewish Culture on the Soviet Stage, which won a National Jewish Book Award, and Jewish Public Culture in the Late Russian Empire, which won a Canadian Jewish Book Award and the J. I. Segal Prize.

My involvement in the Jewish community at Western University and at Western Hillel has been strongly shaped by my experiences at Bialik. The education I received there taught me to value, love and defend Israel. My passion for the Jewish homeland was forged at Bialik and this laid the foun-dation for my current involvement in the Jewish community at Western.

I am the President of McMaster Hillel, which is the centre of Jewish life at Mac. Hillel runs events for Jewish and non-Jewish students at McMas-ter. These events include organizing Shabbat dinners, running Holocaust education week and participating in interfaith initiatives. As President, I am involved in Jewish engagement and advocacy, ensuring that Jewish students know they have a strong Jewish community that defends Jewish students’ rights on campus.
My years at Bialik shaped my strong Jewish and pro-Israel identity. It was at Bialik that I learned to love Israel and it is that love that has made me such a strong advocate on my campus. Thanks to Bialik, I had a Jewish and pro-Israel community and I am trying to share this love of community with other Jewish students at McMaster.

s is customary each June, many graduating students and their families choose to leave their mark at Bialik by mak-ing a donation of $180 and signing the Tree of Honour.
In 2003, Terry and Nadine Walman, parents of Samara ’02 and Raquel ’04, donated The Tree of Honour, which is
prominently displayed in the Senior Division hallway. The family believed that this would be a wonderful opportunity for graduates to celebrate their Bialik experience in a meaningful way.
The funds raised from the Tree of Honour program go towards tuition support so that no child is denied a Bialik Jewish education.

In Memory of our Dear Friend, Elizabeth Comper
lizabeth Comper, a great friend and supporter of Bialik and the community, passed away on June 22, 2014. Elizabeth was a visionary who took up the bold fight against antisemitism and racism. After seeing a wave of antisemitism in 2004 in Toronto and Montreal, Elizabeth and her husband Tony sprung into action and founded FAST, Fight-
ing Antisemitism Together. The organization is dedicated to fighting racism in all its forms, with a specific focus on antisemitism. Through FAST, Elizabeth established Choose Your Voice, an educational program about fighting antisemitism. The program has been used at over 19,000 schools throughout Canada, as well as at Bialik.
Elizabeth honoured us by speaking to our students about the work of FAST and attending our annual Yom Ha’Shoah ceremonies. We had planned to honour Elizabeth and Tony at our 2014 Yom Ha’Shoah commemoration that focused on the Righteous Among the Nations. Sadly, Elizabeth’s ill health prevented her from attending. On April 16th 2015, we will dedicate our Yom Ha’shoah ceremony to Elizabeth and Tony.
We feel honoured and privileged to have known Elizabeth, and will cherish and miss the close relationship we enjoyed with her. She was an inspiration to us all.

Grade 8 Graduation Breakfast
Grade 8 students and parents kicked off their gradua-tion year with a breakfast celebration marking this special milestone. Grade 8 is a very exciting year for students as they wind up their Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebrations and start planning for the next phase of their education.
At school, they are finally the “big” kids that younger students look up to. They take on leadership roles on Stu-dent Council and as House Captains. Each individual class takes on the responsibility of planning the Remembrance Day, Yom Hazikron and Yom Ha’Shoah school-wide assem-blies. The final year of their Bialik experience is capped off with a trip to New York with their teachers and classmates.
At the graduation breakfast, students and parents were asked to reflect on their years spent at the school. When asked what they will miss most about Bialik Hebrew Day School parents overwhelmingly responded the sense of community and inclusion the school provides. “I will tru-ly miss the warmth and sense of respect that is nurtured at Bialik,” stated one parent. As for the students, most wrote that they will think of “all the teachers and friends I have gotten used to over the years.”
Good luck to the grade 8s &
Mazel Tov on your graduation!

ialik Hebrew Day School, in partner-ship with ECHOage, offers a great way for students to contribute to their school while teaching them
and their friends the wonderful mitzvah of Tzedakah. When planning their child’s birthday party, parents can arrange it all on the ECHOage website. The site allows them to set up an electronic invitation and, in place of a gift, asks for a financial contribution. The birthday child will then receive half of the total amount, with the other half going to Bilaik Hebrew Day School. Students have raised over $15,000 through the ECHOage program. Proceeds raised go towards the Library Fund and tuition support.
In honour of their birthdays, Justin and Max Feldman chose to make a donation towards the Bialik Library Fund and tuition support. Together they raised over $500. The Feldman boys appreciated the opportu-nity to support both Bialik and its student body.

11KOL BIALIK | FEBRUARY 2015
oishe was born in Pinsk, Poland (now Belarus) in 1893 and always had a passion for education. After a long career as a school administrator and teacher he moved to Canada in the 1930s. He quickly became an influential figure in the Toronto Jewish community. With a history
of founding schools in Poland, it was only natural that he established the Folk Shule, an after-school program at 12 Viewmount Ave. With the success of the Folk Shule, Bialik was created. When Bialik was established Moishe couldn’t imagine how it would have grown from just three classes to over 900 students spread over two branches.
As the first principal in 1961, Moishe ensured that the ideas of Labour Zionism, Yiddish and a love of Israel were always present in the learning process. His belief in Jewish education went beyond the Bialik walls as he instilled this in his family life. “My family were very strong labour Zionists, [Moishe was] very proud of the fact that [his] children [and grandchildren] were learning Yiddish,” explains Moishe’s granddaughter Debbi Ross.
Debbi briefly attended the school in her earlier years but later moved away. When she returned to Toronto she and her husband Ted chose Bialik for their children. Debbi explains, “There was a feeling of Zionism in my family and I wanted that for my kids.”
Bialik had a lasting impact on Debbi’s daughter Naomi Orzech. Naomi says, “My experience at Bialik provided me with a Jewish foundation and a sense of identity.” Naomi also chose the school for her kids Dylan and Abbey Orzech, Moishe’s great-great-grandchildren. “My husband and I felt that Jew-ish education was very important for the same reasons that Bialik impacted me the most,” explained Naomi.
When asked about what Abbey and Dylan know about their ancestor Moishe, she said, “I think they love that it is a tradition… and that it has trick-led down generation to generation to them.”
Dylan and Abbey are the fourth generation of their family to leave their mark on Bialik and hopefully they won’t be the last. Every day that they at-tend Bialik is another day that the legacy of Moishe Menachovsky lives on.
Every weekday morning Abbey and Dylan Orzech’s parents drop them off at Bialik
Hebrew Day School. As they walk through the halls they pass a mounted picture
hanging on the wall. The image is of Moishe Menachovsky.

hen Ziona Hagler was
seven months pregnant
with her daughter
she finally told the
administration at Bialik Hebrew Day
School that she was going to have a baby.
After the baby arrived in the summer, Ziona was back at school two and a half weeks later for the start of the school year.
It is this dedication to Bialik that has made Ziona a fixture at Bialik for de-cades. Ziona is a truly remarkable person and teacher. She has been part of the Bialik family for 49 years and has seen it evolve from a tiny labour Zionist insti-tution to a modern Jewish day school with over 900 students in two branches.
She began her Bialik career in 1966 teaching grades 2 and 6 and quickly started producing the plays and graduations that she and Bialik have become famous for. She explains that she started producing the plays as an extension of what was being taught in the classroom. “Whatever we did in class, we did a play about.” That meant holidays, special events and more.
Ziona’s mark on the school goes well beyond just plays and graduations. Her daughter and grandchildren have all graduated from Bialik and her young-est grandchild, Shira, is graduating this June. Ziona’s belief in Jewish education is not only for her students but for her family as well. It has been an immense source of pride for her to have her family go through the halls and graduate.
“I believe in Bialik, I believe in what we’re doing here so it was the best school for my daughter and I encouraged a lot of others to attend also” said Ziona.
Now that her granddaughter is in her final year it is also time for Ziona to graduate. After a long and distinguished career at Bialik she wants to be remembered for a few important things, “the love of Israel, Hebrew language
and Israeli culture.” Her proudest moments over the years have been seeing former students send their children to Bialik. “They evaluated what Bialik gave to them and wanted that for their own kids. People still come up to me and say ‘Ziona, I’m still speaking Hebrew!’”
Ziona certainly will be remembered for her immense dedication to Bialik and her will to impart a little bit of Israel into every student who graces the halls of the school.

Recognition of Generosity & Commitment to Bialik
n September, when parents and students returned to the Ben and Edith Himel Education Centre on The Joseph & Wolf Levovic Jewish Community Campus from
summer break, they noticed a new addition in the foyer of the school — the Donor Recogni-tion Wall — which was designed to recognize and honour donors who made a gift of $3,600 or more to the new branch.
At the dedication of the Donor Recognition Wall in September, masters of ceremony, Jodi Tanentzap and Avi Glina — Chair and Vice-Chair of the Campaign Cabinet Committee — invited Irv, Mel and Pamela Himel and Joseph Lebovic to reveal the donor wall.
Ed Sonshine, Honorary Campaign Chair, thanked everyone for supporting the campaign and stressed the importance of building for the future. “Jewish education imbued with Zionism and Yiddishkeit is critical in helping to create Jew-ish leadership in the next generation. A commit-ted leadership is essential if we are to continue building a vibrant and growing community.”
On behalf of the Board of Directors, students, staff and volunteers, we thank you for your sup-port in making our vision come true.

Naming Opportunities
hase 1 of The Ben & Edith Himel Education Centre on the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Campus opened in September 2013 and it included space for six classes only–from JK through grade 4. However, due to the increased
demand for JK spots, the Bialik Board and Administration decided to accel-erate construction of the next phase. Phase 1B will begin in January 2015 and will be completed by July 2015. Phase 1B will add another 6 classrooms allowing for the 2 JK classes of 2014 to always have room to grow at Bialik.
By September 2018, with the support of our community, Phases 1B, 2 and 3 will be complete, enabling Bialik to accommodate up to 500 students in two classrooms at each grade level, from JK to grade 8. Ultimately, with the completion of the final Phase 4 — a second floor addition — The Ben & Edith Himel Education Centre will match the size of Bialik’s Viewmount branch with more than 800 students.
A total of $12 million is required to complete Phases 1B, 2 and 3 of the building. The new construction will expand the existing 16,770 square-foot building to 63,000 square-feet — almost four times its current footprint.

Dedicating a Mezuzah Bialik Hebrew Day School
edicating a mezuzah at Bialik is a special way to mark an important occasion or to honour the memory of a loved one. Those
that dedicate a mezuzah are recognized in an intimate dedication ceremony and their names are etched on the large Mezuzah sculpture adorning the Viewmount Branch atrium wall or on the identical Mezuzah sculpture at the Himel Branch. Our beautiful mezuzahs were hand–painted by former Bialik students.
Thank you to the following for dedicating a Mezuzah:
In memory of Pearl Bernitz – Himel Branch
In memory of Herman Bernitz – Himel Branch
In memory of Joseph Erlich – Viewmount Branch
In memory of Harry Green – Himel Branch
In loving memory of Dr. Stan Kushnir and Al and Gertrude Sax
by Lorri Kushnir & Family – Viewmount Branch
Amy and Aaron Platt & Family - In memory of Avron Shore, a great uncle – Himel Branch
Sonia & Van Shron and Family – Himel Branch
Michael Tylman and Carole Freeman and Family – Viewmount Branch
Ruvan and Danielle Waltman, Jamie, Marley and Jacob – Himel Branch
The Power of Matching Fund Gifts
ver 500 companies in Canada will match donations made by their employees to charitable organizations. To find out if your company has a matching gift program, contact your human re-sources personnel or community relations office for information.
Anna Nagel, grandmother of Sarit and Reuben Nagel, made a gift to the 2014 Annual Campaign for tuition support. Soon after, Anna learned that the company she is employed by, Brookfield Office Properties Management LP, matches charitable gifts made by their employees. Paperwork was submitted and Anna’s gift was doubled.
TD Bank Group is proud of its employees who support their communi-ties. One way they recognize and support the volunteer effort of their em-ployees is through their Volunteer Grant Program. This program provides TD active and retired employees with the opportunity to earn a $500 grant for a charity they are personally committed to. Thank you to Deena Biback, Paul Orlander and Joanna Shore for all of the volunteer hours they give to Bialik and for qualifying for the Volunteer Grant Program.

How to Make a Philanthropic Gift to Bialik Hebrew Day School
EASY AS 1,2,3...
You are able to direct a philanthropic gift to Bialik through a community foundation, The Jewish Foundation of Toronto or a private foundation. By having a donor-advised fund with a foundation, you can direct your gift to a charity of your choice.
You can make a gift to Bialik Hebrew Day School through the transfer of appreciated stock. Bialik will provide the donor with the information needed in order to complete the transaction, which may result in significant tax savings.
You can make a gift using flow-through shares. The flow-through share investment allows investors with higher marginal tax rates to reduce their income through the receipt of tax credits.
You can make a legacy gift to Bialik. The Director of Development can help plan, with the donor, what they wish to support with their legacy gift and the correct wording needed for their bequest.
You can make a gift to Bialik through the United Way. If your workplace participates in a United Way campaign, you can designate your gift to a charity of your choice.
You can make a gift to Bialik through Canada Helps. Canada Helps is a registered charity with the goal of making giving simple. Through Cana-dahelps.org, anyone can donate online to Bialik.
There are many corporate matching gift pro-grams. Many corporations will match charitable contributions made by their employees.
Taking out a life insurance policy is one of the best ways to leave a charitable legacy. Purchasing an insurance policy with Bialik as a beneficiary can be a greater benefit in several ways if you qualify.
TributeCards
Bialik Hebrew Day School tribute cards are a wonderful way of acknowl-edging simchas, holidays and other life cycle events.
Donations will be directed to the Annual Campaign or to a fund speci-fied by the donor.
Minimum donation is $18 per card or a package of 5 cards for $50. A charitable donation receipt will be issued for the full amount.
To order, go to www.bialik.ca or contactMichal Daskalo, Capital Campaign Officer 416.783.3346 x 223 or [email protected]

Here the Soul of the Poeple is Forgedפה בית היוצר לנשמת האומה
ver 200 new “students” were welcomed to both branches of Bialik Hebrew Day School to participate in learning activi-ties in JK, SK, grade 4 and grade 8. These were not your average students, however, and most of them have not
been in a classroom for many years. The Ben and Edith Himel Education Centre on the Joseph & Wolf Lebovic
Jewish Community Campus held its very first Grandparents and Special Friends Day for the JK and SK students. Students and grandparents partici-pated in a beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat before learning how to braid challah and decorate place mats and challah covers.
At Bialik’s Viewmount branch it was the JK’s, grade 4’s and grade 8’s turn to have their grandparents and special friends learn with them. Upon arrival at the school, guests were welcomed and received a timetable — fortunately most arrived on time and there was no need to issue any late slips!
Some of the highlights were the grade 4s learning and discussing the Holocaust novel Number the Stars by Lois Lowry and having Kabbalat Shab-bat with their guests in their classrooms.
The grade 8s enjoyed breakfast with their guests and then headed to math class with Blake Enzel, tanach with Dan Mendelsohn Aviv and art with Martha Fleury. In the art class, the grandparents shared a memory and the students drew a picture capturing their story.
These grandparents and special friends days were such an overwhelming success and we look forward to welcoming new students again next year!
ViewmountPlayground Campaign
he Viewmount Branch has embarked on a Capital Campaign to redesign and refurbish the outdoor space. The Viewmount PTA and Bialik’s Board of Directors and members of the Bialik family have generously supported
this initiative and the PTA has been working with Benjy Cohen and the architects to design an amazing playground for our students. Lori Kline and Leslie Orbach, co-chairs of the Viewmount Playground Campaign, are very excited about the plans.

As we move towards our final goal we would like to remind the Bialik community that we are hoping for 100% participation
from the parent body. The playground will be a gift from our Bialik family to our chil-dren and generations to come: a gift that
keeps on giving. – Leslie Orbach & Lori Kline
