KLR type expansion joint’s execution alternatives

Compensator assigned for aboveground installation – piston rod protected with bellows shield.
Underground installation
Expansion joint assigned for underground installation – external protection pipe with increased mechanical strength and with additional scraper and sealing ring protecting from moisture and dirtiness.

KLR type linear expansion joints
Linear expansion joints manufactured by Radiatym are designed for high linear compensation of the pipelines (they take over increase or decrease of the linear dimensions of pipelines). Compensators (standard production) are designed to work under the conditions determined by the manufacturer. There is a possibility to produce the compensators designed for different working conditions (pressure, temperature, compensation capacity), from different materials, suitable for the user’s needs, as well as with external shields or different ends for line pipes. Each expansion joint can have the ability to monitor compensation. This is a patented system "EXTENT".
Application
On the terrains where the ground movements may occur caused by the underground mining,
On steep terrains (mountainous) where the ground movements may occur,
On the terrains with high seismic activity,
On building objects where high compensation
of pipeline is anticipated.

Do not require any supervision or maintenance. Certificate of Approval of Quality System INiG-PIB Kraków no 1/14 for the conformity with PED 97/23/WE within the scope of H module (among others for KLR type linear compensators). 006/02/2015 ISO Certificate confirming the PN-EN ISO/IEC 9001:2009+AC 2009 system is put into life and maintained within the scope of design and production (among others for KLR type linear compensators).
Mechanical properties
Continuous tests and checks as well as our long-term experience show the correctness of the constructional solution used and the production technology applied.
Electric properties
KLR type linear expansion joints are dedicated to work in pipelines with cathodic protection.Elementary electrical parameters meet conditions:
The design of the linear expansion joint provides the electrical resistance of less than 20 [Ω] as measured at a constant voltage (DC) 1000 [V] (in the whole range of its extension).
Unit resistance of isolation measured in extremely conditions is equal to 10 [Ωm ]
Strengthening calculations
Standard acc. to WUDT/UC/2003 and PN-EN 1594:2014, additional parameters, such as external bending moment, can be imposed by a Customer. The crucial data for the calculations is the maximum operational pressure (MOP) determined by a Customer, external loads and materials assumptions.
Materials
Steel parts are made of high-quality pipes and plates; all seals are age-resistant and are matched for medium flowing into pipeline in respect of chemical, temperature and pressure resistance. Materials are matched in agreement with Customer.
Scope of use
For transmission and gas distribution pipelines, water and liquid fuels.Applicable in aboveground and underground pipelines.
External coatings
Standard Polyurethane coating conform to PN-EN 10290 (thickness 1.5-3.0 [mm]).
Internal coatings
Standard epoxy coating conform to PN-EN 10301, there is a possibility to coat according to the Customer’s requirements.
Scope of execution
For standard execution assumed:
max operating pressure MOP100 (10[MPa]),
operating temperature range from -30 [°C] to +50 [°C]
compensation range ±400mm (there is a possibility to do compensation range according to the
Customer’s requirements).

Inspection and acceptance
As a standard each compensator is checked in compliance with WUDT/UC/2003, PN-EN 1594:2014 guidelines and internal procedures. Tests results are contained within 3.1 EN 10204 Certificate, optionally 3.2 EN 10204 Certificate.
