Gloopy FunLast week in Science our students made Gloop. Gloop is a cornflour mixture that is a liquid but when handled in a certain way, feels like a solid. It was messy (just ask Aileen) but fun (just ask the kids). Thanks to Mrs Williams for taking on this mammoth and messy task, whilst we were in the Review meeting.

Which Nest Is Best? Our Year Two students were set the challenge of building birds’ nests. They had to collect the materials and set about weaving and moulding the nests so that they held their shape. They found this very challenging and have developed a new appreciation for birds.

Annual ConcertFriday 9th is the BIG night! We have been practising hard in order to showcase our talents. A big thank you to Narelle and Darren who are organising the chairs. If we could have a couple of volunteers to cook the BBQ prior to the concert, that would be great. Please contact Lisa if you are able to assist with this.

End Of year ReportsThese will be sent home with students on Monday December 19th ( the Monday after camp). Whilst we realise this is not ideal if parents want to contact the Staff about the reports, we are unable to get these out any earlier due to the School Review commitments, end of year concert arrangements and camp. Teachers are available to discuss urgent matters on the Tuesday or over the holidays (by arrangement).

Melbourne CampThank you to families who have promptly sent back completed forms and payments for our up coming three day camp. A reminder that parents are responsible for transporting students both to and from the Echuca Railway Station. If you are unable to do this please contact another family to see if they can help out. If this fails, contact the school.

Community Club CarolsThe Torrumbarry Community Club is hosting a Christmas Carols event on Friday December 16th. This event will be held at the Torrumbarry Hotel and will begin after the raffles. If we have sufficient students in attendance we have been asked to sing one of our concert Christmas songs. This should be a great night for all of the community to enjoy. Exact starting time will be advised in next week’s newsletter.

ThanksA special thank you to Tanya, Phil, Matilda and Ashton who came up on Friday night to clear gutters and do some tidying up around the school in preparation for the bushfire season and concert. Your help is very much appreciated.

End Of TermTerm 4 ends on Tuesday December 20th at 1pm. Monday December 19th will be a Christmas Themed Day, where students and staff are invited to wear something Christmas themed. They are also asked to bring something along suitable for a shared lunch/Christmas feast. You are reminded that Term One 2017 begins for students on Tuesday January 30th. Staff officially return on Monday the 29th, although we will be here periodically over the break. If you should need to make contact please leave a message on the school answering service, or if urgent, on Lisa’s mobile.

Christmas PlayThis Friday is our last Playgroup for 2016. It is a special Christmas theme and we invite all participants to put on something Christmassy. The Welton Students will be assisting with some activities. We are planning to run Playgroup again in 2017 and will keep you all posted with a start date.

LawnsThe next rostered family to mow the lawns is Woodgate. The lawns will require a bit of a spruce up prior to concert night. Lisa will take care of any mowing that needs doing over the holidays.

One To GoNext week will be our last newsletter for 2016, as we will be at camp the following week and the last week of school only has two days in it.
