6. Le jumelage

Notre ville, Enghien, est jumelée avec la ville du même nom en Belgique, dans la province de Hainault, depuis le 16 juin 1957. Ce jour-là les maires des deux villes jumelles ont mis leur signature à un accord.

Notre sœur belge est composée de trois petites villes qui étaient séparées dans le passé, mais qui forment aujourd’hui une seule ville d’environ 10 000 habitants. Ceci a permis de réunir ville et campagne. La communauté est fière de son art et de son histoire, de son château et de son parc (un achat par la ville en 1986 de 226 hectares). Après une première visite, l’accueil très amical va vous donner envie d’y revenir.

Quant à notre ville en France, ce sont nos bains chauds naturels qui ont fait notre réputation, mais ce n’est qu’en 1823, que les eaux thermales d’Enghien sont devenues véritablement « à la mode » quand on a guéri un ulcère à la jambe du roi Louis XVIII en utilisant les eaux. L’ouverture du chemin de fer en 1846 a attiré de plus en plus de Parisiens vers le « hameau des eaux », qui a adopté en 1850 le nom d’Enghien-les-Bains. La ville est devenue par la suite une station thermale de réputation mondiale.

Candidates will take part in two conversations in section B of the exam. The conversations will be based on two separate topic areas and must be different to the topic area discussed during section A. Que faisais-tu pendant la récréation quand tu avais 11 ans? Tu étudies combien de matières? Lesquelles? Quelle est ta matière préférée? Pourquoi?

Décris une journée typique au collège. Décris un(e) de tes profs. Parle-moi d’un professeur que tu admires. Pourquoi est-ce que tu l’aimes? Un uniforme scolaire, est-ce une bonne idée, à ton avis? proyectos y obras para incorporarse a la modernidad.

Section A: Presentation and discussion based on a picture

Maximum 4 minutes

1 TOPIC AREA A – HOME AND ABROAD


The picture-based discussion begins with a short presentation by the candidate

based on the picture which s/he has provided. The interviewer should then intervene with a series of questions based on the picture. The conversation must

relate to the picture but may also include some questions prompted by the picture

the candidate has chosen. The questions must not duplicate material already covered in the initial presentation. The aim is to develop the conversation as

naturally as possible, following the candidate’s lead and responding accordingly. The interviewer should ensure that the candidate is given the opportunity to fulfil the

requirements of the assessment criteria and to have access to the full range of marks.

The following list of questions is not prescriptive, but rather indicates the types of

question to be asked. All three question types should be covered in the discussion,

although the main focus should be the picture provided by the candidate. Questions relating to the picture

` Parents help guide

1. A routine is good. Homework can be habit forming and that's good news

for you and your child. Work out a homework schedule and make sure

children adhere to it. It won't be long before homework is complete

without you getting involved.

2. Give space for homework. Distractions and homework don't mix. So do

your best to create a bright and quiet space where your child can

concentrate on schoolwork. Make sure it's away from distractions like TV,

music and loud siblings.

3. Practice makes perfect. Repetition reinforces learning. That's why it's

helpful to have kids read through their class notes. Ten to 15 minutes a

day can work wonders.

4. Check in occasionally. When kids do their homework all alone, their

concentration can often wander. Check in once in a while and see how it's

going. Ask if there are any questions. Sometimes kids just need to talk

about a homework problem to figure out the answer.

5. Encourage curiosity and questions. Learning really begins when kids

start asking questions. Who, what, where, when and why are magical

words of discovery that make learning more interesting and fun. Give your

children the confidence to ask for help if the homework is difficult or

confusing. If you can’t answer the question, encourage them to ask their

teacher or to use the internet to find the solution.
