SB 1440 Legislated Effective Date
– Fall 2011 (Spring 2012)
CSU Will Guarantee AA/AS-T degree students admission with Junior Status to Similar Degree Major
AA/AS-T degree students given “priority” for admission to “local” CSU campus and to a major that is determined to be “similar” to the AA/AS-T degree
AA/AS-T degree students will be able to complete the BA/BS in no more than 60 additional units.

The Process Begins With
SB 1440 “Similar" Declarations
The CCC Submits AA/AS-T TMC/Local Developed Degrees
to the CCCCO
CCC Approved AA/AS-T TMC/Local Degrees are recorded by CCCCO and Sent To CSU
CSU Maps Approved CCC Degrees with Campus Approved AA/AS-T TMC/Local TMC Degrees
CSU: Not Accepted TMC or New Local AA/AS Degrees Sent to Campus for Review
Degrees determined Similar are reported back to CCCCO & Inputted in the CSU Degree Database
CSU Response: TMC similar determinations
“Would students who finish this TMC prior to transfer be adequately prepared for upper division work in the major, so they could complete the given degree in 60 semester units (or the equivalent in quarter units)?”
– .If “Yes” indicate exactly which of your degrees (BA, BS, BFA), majors, and options are "similar."
Answer “maybe” if the TMC can be accommodated with minor changes to your degree programs.
– Indicate the exact academic programs, and what changes you would need to make

– Apply – General Education/IGETC– American Inst. & Ideals (IOC pending)
Articulation still matters Local Area as defined by the IOC:
– AA/AS-T Degree Students must complete a minimum of 12 units in residence at the conferring CCC to be designated a “local” by the CSU
