KAZZIT ALEXANDER VALLEY WINERIES

If you are thinking of travelling to Sonoma County in California for the sole purpose of taking a trip along the Wine Road, you could do a whole lot worse than choosing Healdsburg as your base camp of sorts.

It is pretty much the epicenter of all that goes on in this wine country region, and serves as a great jumping off point for the three major wine regions that encircle the town.

There is the Dry Creek Valley, the Russian River Valley, and the region that we are going to focus on here, the Anderson Valley all within reach of the town. Let’s take a look at what you can expect when visiting Alexander Valley wineries.

If you do choose Healdsburg as your wine travel hub, you will have access plenty of places to stay and eat, many of which actually cater to visitors that come to the area for the wine.

You’ll find that the whole are is a lot less commercial than Napa Valley, as well as being a lot less crowded. If you want something on a smaller scale, yet still be right in the heart of the Wineries in Alexander Valley, the town of Geyserville is a wonderful option, especially for those looking for more of a romantic getaway.

Choosing either of those location as a starting point means having direct access to Highway 128, which essentially runs in a loop around the Alexander Valley Wineries.

When travelling this road, make sure to take a little side road detour known as the Red Winery Road. There are some little hidden gems to be found down there that would otherwise be missed if you just stuck to 128. It is those smaller wineries that are what make this part of the state so very special.

What you will also love about these California wineries is that there is not a single ounce of pretentious behavior to be found. This is an area where newcomers to the world of wine tasting can sample some wonderful wines without fear of saying something wrong, or having what connoisseurs might consider a wrong opinion about the wine being tasted.

This is a relaxing journey through wine country, with many of the tasting rooms along the road either charging very small amounts entry or not charging anything at all. Don’t let the low cost fool you, though, the wines that you will sample at the wineries in Alexander Valley are of the highest quality.

There is a whole lot more than just wine to be sampled in Sonoma, making this the perfect place to come and stay for a few days.

There are great hiking opportunities, picturesque picnic spots, and fun on the water to be had on the Russian River, meaning that there is plenty to do between tastings. You are going to need more than a single day if you want to take in all the wineries and the tasting rooms in Anderson Valley, so take a look at what the area has to offer, and plan on staying a while.
