What is Aid?

Providing resources such as food, medicine etc.

Usually from MEDC’s to LEDC’s either in an emergency

or to promote long-term development in a country.

There are three types of aid…

Aid given directly from one government to

Multilateral

Aid given through an agency such as the

World Bank – usually money

Non-Governmenta

Aid is given through charities e.g. Oxfam

and can be for development or in an

emergency

Not technically a bank!

Provide investment in projects around the world to help

alleviate poverty and support development

Provide things like low-interest loans and grants to

developing countries

Supports education, health, infrastructure, development,

agriculture, and environmental and natural resource

management.

They both provide and receive money to target certain

areas or needs around the world.
