At theendof theNewMedia course, the14participating studentswereasked totakeasurveyinordertoevaluatetheNewMediacoursetogetherwiththelecturer’smethod, approach and enthusiasm. The evaluation survey was accessible onlineleavingstudentswiththeoptionoftakingitattheirownpaceandintheabsenceofthelecturer.Toavoidbias,studentswereaskedtosubmittheiranswersbeforetheirfinals grades were delivered. 11 out of the total of 14 students took the survey,offeringresponsesfrom78.5%ofthecourseparticipants.

ObservationsandConclusions:Alltheanswersgiventothequestionsaskedareinthehigherpositiverange–fromgoodtoexcellent.Theareasmarkedthestudentsasbeingexcellent(obtainingalsothemajorityvote)were:

• Thelecturer’suseoftechnology(91%)• Thelecturer'savailabilitytoofferstudentsextrahelpwhenyouasked(91%)• Thelecturer’sorganizationofthecourse(73%)• Thelecturer’suseofexamplesandillustrations(73%)• thelecturer'senthusiasm(73%)

Itisconsideredthatcontinuingtointegrateanonlinelivevideoguestlectureandacompany visit in the course provided students with memorable and positiveexamples.Asamatteroffact,boththeNetlogvisitandtheonlineliveguestlecturehadhighlypositivescoresandmentions.Threequalitativequestionswerepartofthesurveyaswell.Theyaimedtodeterminethe areas that students most liked or disliked as well as the elements that theywouldhavewantedthecoursetocover.Evenwiththecoursebeingextendedto8sessions compared to five in previous semesters, some students suggested thecoursetotakeevenlonger.Divisionofteamsintoevensmallergroups(fromthree‐fourmemberstoonlytwo)werealsosuggested.Thepracticalaspectsofthecoursewerementionedasstrongpointsofthecourseandgood learningexperiences. Itshouldbenotedthatthissemester featuredtwoin‐classassignments,oneindividualandonebasedonteam‐work.Toshowcasethestudents’resultsthreeonlinespaceswerecreated:http://kathonewmedia.wordpress.comhttp://kathonewmedia.posterous.comhttp://kathonewmedia.pbworks.comThesespaceswerealsousedtoshowcasethestudent’sfinalpracticalprojects.Recommendationsandsuggestions:Takingintoaccountthestudents’observationsandinanattempttomakealinktotheareasdeterminedinthecourseevaluationashavingapotentialforimprovementitissuggested:

• toattemptselectingstudentspriortobeggingofclass(submissionofonlineresumeandSkype interviewwouldallow the lecturer to interact firsthandwiththestudentsandensureinterest,motivationandpreparationarehigh)
