Die Herausforderung steckt im Detail – und macht den Unterschied im Komfort

Erlebbar besser zu sein als vergleichbare Produkte ist eine Herausforderung und erfordert ein hohes Maß an Detailkenntnissen. Oft sind es Feinheiten, die den entscheidenden Unterschied ausmachen. Für das auf den ersten Blick wenig technische textile Accessoire Radhandschuh gilt dies in besonderem Maße. Oberflächlich betrachtet ist ein Unterschied, abgesehen vom Design, nur bedingt erkenn-bar. Bei genauerer Betrachtung entpuppt sich der Handschuh sehr wohl als technischer Artikel und ein Unterschied im Tragekomfort ist erlebbar. Im Gegensatz zum Fahrrad ist der Tragekomfort bei Handschuhen eine der Qualitätsdimensionen, die für gewöhnlich nicht messbar sind. Auch gibt es in der Regel keine Formel, die ein Produkt bequemer macht als ein anderes. Die Proportionen müssen stimmen – sie sind mehr Erfahrungsschatz und Handwerkskunst als Wissenschaft. Wir zum Beispiel stellen nur Sporthandschuhe her, allein bei über 70 unterschiedlichen Radhandschuhen mit bis zu 13 Größen pro Modell sind das bereits mehr als 650 unterschiedliche Produkte, von denen jedes Einzelne optimal passen muss. Da auch die Dicke, sowie die Längs- und Querelastizität eines jeden Materials unterschiedlich ist und ein einziger Sporthandschuh aus bis zu 30 Einzelteilen in akkurater Handarbeit zusammengenäht wird, kann Passform geschaffen, aber nicht am grünen Tisch errechnet werden! Bei uns ist Komfort aber sogar ein wenig messbar, in der Nahtverarbeitung zum Beispiel. Wenn Sie einen Radhandschuh genau ansehen, werden Sie feststellen, dass die Nahtüberlappung bei den meisten Materialien nur einen einzigen Millimeter beträgt. Das und die von uns exklusiv entwickelten Funktionsmaterialien und Ausstattungsmerkmale unterscheiden unsere Radhandschuhe von anderen und ermöglichen, dass diese sitzen wie eine zweite Haut und daher sehr bequem sind.

It’s the detail that matters – and makes all the difference in comfort

Designing a product in such a way as to make it noticeably better than its comparable competitors is challenging and requires extensive knowledge and skills when it comes to the details. It is often the fine points that make all the difference. This holds especially true for the biking glove, a textile accessory that might – at first glance – not appear to be very technical at all. A cursory overview may (apart from the design) help to discern only a few differences, if any. Yet a closer look at the glove reveals that it is indeed an article filled with technological features, and that there are tangible differences in wearing comfort. In contrast to the bicycle itself, the wearing comfort of the biking glove is one of the quality dimensions that are generally impossible to measure or quantify. Nor is there a universal for-mula that makes one product more comfortable than another. The proportions need to be just right – a result that is achieved by drawing on years of experience and craftsmanship, rather than by applying scientific principles. Our strategy, for example, is to only manufacture sports gloves. Yet with over 80 different models in our biking glove segment alone, and with up to 13 different sizes per model, that already adds up to more than 660 different products, each of which must ensure a perfect fit. Since both, the thickness as well as the lateral and longitudinal elasticity, varies between different materials, and a single sport glove consists of up to 30 individual parts, which are accurately sewn together by hand, the ideal fit can be created – but not captured in mathematical terms! The comfort of our gloves, however, can in fact be measured to a certain extent, for example in terms of how the seams are processed. If you closely examine a biking glove, you will realize that we allow a maximum seam tolerance of just one single millimeter (0.04 inches). These properties, together with the exclusive functional materials and features developed by us, are what make our biking gloves so unique. They fit your hands like a second skin, and are therefore extremely comfortable to wear.

Longfi ngerDas Thema Langfinger-Handschuhe im Sommer setzt sich mehr und mehr durch. Vor allem die Zielgruppe der Mountainbike-, Trial- und BMX-Fahrer finden in diesem Segment genau die richtigen Handschuhe. Die Spanne reicht von extremen Downhill-Modellen mit Karbon-Protektoren bzw. Freeride- und Trial/BMX-Modellen bis hin zu sehr leichten wie auch Luft und UV-Strahlen durchlässigen Varianten. Auch für widrige Verhältnisse bzw. niedrige Tempera-turen, wie sie auf einer Alpenüberquerung häufig anzutreffen sind, gibt es die geeigneten Modelle.

The subject of long-fingered gloves in the summer continues to prevail. Primari-ly the target groups of the mountain bikers, trial and BMX bikers find exactly the right gloves in this segment. The gloves range from extreme downhill models featuring carbon protectors or freeride and Trial/BMX models to models which are very light in weight, or to gloves which are permeable to air and UV-rays. There are also suitable models for adverse weather conditions or low tempera-tures as you may find them frequently when crossing the Alps.
