This is the first time that Karoo has undertaken a city camp, and feedback indicates that our students are representing the school in a very positive manner and enjoying the opportunity to learn about the history of Melbourne. On Monday they had a walking tour of Melbourne and visited the Chinese Museum. At the end of the day they enjoyed tenpin bowling and arcade games followed by tired feet and lights out at CYC in Collins Street. Yesterday was the Melbourne Museum, the Melbourne Gaol and the State Library. Today the campers visited the Botanic Gardens for the indigenous presentation ‘Connecting to Country’ and then a visit to the Art Gallery to see the Andy Warhol exhibition. Each of the visits and tours have involved an activity program based on the early settlers of Melbourne, which have been interactive and designed to bring history alive for our students. We have truly appreciated the fantastic support of so many parents who have assisted with attending different parts of the camp to ensure a high ratio of adults to students. Holidays and Term 2 According to our students the holidays were a great time to rest and recuperate. We are grateful to families for keeping an eye on the school and with the help of the video cameras and local police our grounds are in good order. Term 2 is always a very busy one with assessments and reporting along with all of the other excursions, incursions and sporting events that fill the school days. We appreciate the support that Karoo families provide to your children to build their confidence to do their personal best in learning, the arts, sport and civics and citizenship. School Review Each State Government school undertakes a school review and writes a Strategic Plan and an Annual Implementation Plan. Karoo will undertake a school review this year as our Strategic Plan was for 2012-2016. I will keep the community informed about your contribution to this process. A school review is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the growth and progress of the school over the four year period and then look to the future and use government initiatives and programs to continually enhance the well-rounded education for all of our students and the contribution of families to learning and community growth.
