The Student and Faculty Services office through Kansas State University Global Campus provides information, services and resources available to you as a K-State distance student. In this booklet, you will find information about:

Virtual Open House

Visit Kansas State University — virtually! Through the Virtual Open House, you can:

• learn about online degrees, courses and student services

• view videos of K-State instructors who teach online

• meet distance education advisors who can assist you

• explore the university through a campus photo tour

Paying for College

K-State Global Campus provides affordable, accessible educational opportunities to meet the needs of students and professionals.Online courses through K-State Global Campus are assessed at a fixed tuition rate regardless of residency status. Learn more about tuition and fees at global.k-state.edu/courses/registration/fees-tuition.

Financial Assistance and Scholarships

To be eligible for financial assistance or scholarships, complete the following steps:

1. Apply for admission to Kansas State University.

Degree-seeking students admitted to a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral program are eligible for financial assistance. Apply at global.k-state.edu/courses/degrees and select your degree program.

2. Apply for federal financial aid.

Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By submitting the FAFSA, students apply for federal forms of student aid such as grants and loans. Learn more at k-state.edu/sfa/fafsa.

3. Apply for scholarships.

K-State Global Campus scholarships are available to degree-seeking distance students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. View available scholarships, criteria and application guidelines at global.k-state.edu/students/services/scholarships.

Exam Proctoring and Testing

K-State Global Campus facilitates exams for distance students in a variety of ways.

Finding an Exam Proctor

Some courses require a proctor for exams, while others do not. Check for an email from the Student and Faculty Services office once you enroll in a course to determine if you are required to find a proctor.

Schedule an On-campus Proctored Exam

The Student and Faculty Services office can proctor exams in an on-campus testing center at no charge. Exam appointments must be made in advance by phone: 785-532-5575 or toll free 1-800-622-2578.

The testing center is located at 146 College Court Building in Manhattan, Kansas — a white U-shaped building next to the Holiday Inn. Enter through the center courtyard using Entrance C or D.

Advising Services

Academic advisors can help you reach your educational goals as a distance education student. They provide information to help you explore your options and make decisions, including:

• what classes to take and how many classes to take each semester

• time management and study tips

• financial assistance and scholarship opportunities

• time until graduation and the best path to degree completion

• career opportunities and resources for entering the workforce

Military Student Services

For more than 60 years, Kansas State University has been providing military members and their families with programs and services to meet their unique needs.

Through on-campus, evening and online programs and courses, active-duty and veteran students can earn degrees on a convenient timeline and from varying locations, even if they need to relocate.

K-State works closely with Fort Riley and Fort Leavenworth military installations and is a regionally accredited institution with a Veteran’s Administration Office on the Manhattan, Kansas, campus. K-State advisors are available on post and at a distance, to help answer questions and provide resources for military students.

Resources and Services for Distance Students

Many services on campus in Manhattan, Kansas, are available to distance students, including:

The Writing Center: Make an appointment to learn writing strategies and receive feedback through online consultations with experienced writing tutors.

K-State Libraries: Distance students can locate research materials and resources online, as well as chat live with a librarian.

Career and Employment Services: Find training resources, career advising and employment connections to prepare for the workforce.

Powercat Financial Planning and SALT Program: Schedule a free, online confidential financial counseling appointment to manage your money and student loans.

Stress Management Resources: Counseling Services at K-State provides links to online tools and resources for distance students.

Virtual Commencement

Distance students are welcome to attend graduation ceremonies if able. If you cannot attend, virtual commencement allows you to share your educational milestone with friends and family.

Commencement addresses that are specifically for K-State distance students, a list of graduates and a virtual reception area help you celebrate your achievement no matter where you are on graduation day.
