Introduction

These Technical Terms of Delivery provide a general overview of the product range of cold-rolled

and surface-treated steel strips. They contain information on the production program and serve as a

guideline for ordering and processing.

It is our highest objective to give our steel grades the qualities that ensure cost-effective and opti-

mized processing at our customers. To achieve this we employ the most economical manufacturing

technologies.

We are prepared to review requirements that go beyond the terms of delivery or conventional shapes.

Your contact partners in the responsible sales sectors or technical areas are available at any time to

answer your inquiries.

11Order quantities/manufacturable production unit

p The minimum order quantity per production unit is at least one coil production unit (18–20 kg/mm

strip width) and/or its multiple (exceptions to this are steel-grade-specific limitations).

p Order quantities per item below 18 kg/mm strip width are subject to special agreement.

p Specific special grades that require an individual heat in the steelmaking plant are subject to special

agreement.

p The coil weight, particularly when the requirement is no weld seam, can be only one production unit

or a divisible unit thereof.

p The total order amount must be an entire multiple of the minimum/maximum coil weight required

and/or 18–20 kg/mm of the specific coil weight when weld seams are allowed.

p Coil weight requirements (minimum/maximum) with respect to the order quantity, outer diameter or

specific coil weight must show a minimum difference of 2 kg/mm strip width.

p The objective is to fulfill the customer requirement with regard to maximum coil weight; however, it

is permissible for the actual weight to fall below the requested weight by 30%.

p For each ordered volume, order quantity deviations of up to 10% are permissible.

Transport and storage

Cold-rolled and surface-treated steel strips are high-quality and highly sensitive products. Compli-

ance with the following important information with regard to storage and transportation is mandato-

ry in order to maintain quality and to avoid damage.

Storage and transportation of coils

Overview Storage and transportation of coils

General Storage/transportation/loading and unloading

Flat-rolled products are high-quality and highly sensitive materials. They must be protected

from damage, impurities, moisture (from rain, splashing, groundwater and condensation)

during storage and transportation.

Base supports Storage/transportation

The base must be of plastic, steel or wood. Steel bases must be clad with rubber or plastic.

colofer® must be stored on either a plastic or rubber base. The design of the support base

must correspond to the coil geometry.

Storage arrangement Storage/transportation

Coils must be stored in single rows. The stacking of coils is permitted when damage to the

material can be excluded without any doubt.

Lifting devices Loading and unloading

A crane with a coil tong, a C hook or a stacker equipped with either a mandrel or a fork are

permitted as means of transport. The load carrying devices must be adapted to the inner

diameter of the coil (500-600 mm).Chains, ropes and belts are not permitted as slinging

equipment.

Load securing devices Transport

All load securing devices are subject to compliance with applicable technical safety regula-

tions. Coil damage caused by fastening devices and a relative movement of the coil during

transport must be avoided (VDI Guideline 2700 to 2702).

and in accordance with the applicable European standards. Limitations beyond these Technical

Terms of Delivery or the European standards must be indicated in the order.

Binding order data

The customer must indicate the following data in the inquiry or the order:

p Desired quantities

p Desired arrival date at the customer

p Product and designation of steel grade compliant with these Technical Terms of Delivery or the

designation of the steel grade according to the applicable European standard

p Desired dimensions

p Surface type

p The following additional information for coated products:

- Code letter for coating type (Z, ZF, ZM, ZE)

- Code for the layer group

- Code for the surface quality in the case of hot-dip coating

- Code letter for subsequent surface treatment

- See colofer® Technical Terms of Delivery for instructions on ordering colofer® products

p Corrosion protection oil upon request

p Position of the go side

p Order data for coils:

- Inner diameter

Additional order data

It is generally necessary to provide the most complete description possible of the desired product in

the interest of both the customer and the supplier. We highly recommend a description of the inten-

ded application in order to provide proper consultation on the material. The following order data is

required for additional customer requests:

p Limitations applicable to dimension tolerances:

- Limitations applicable to thickness tolerance

- Limitations applicable to width tolerance

- Limitations applicable to shape tolerance

p Data related to the application, preferably with a drawing, graphic, sample piece, etc.

p Special requirements in mechanical values or features with respect to the manufacture

of a certain workpiece

p Special requirements with regard to magnetic properties

p Special requirements with regard to roughness

p Special requirements with respect to the coating above and beyond standard production parame-

ters such as differentially galvanized, special property requirements for organic coating

p Requirements for oiling (to be indicated in g/m2 for each side)

p Data on any required test certificates (works’ certificate, etc.)

p Special requirements with regard to packing upon special request

p Special requirements for labeling or marking, including information on the desired location

p Special requirements on welding seams or weld seam designation when delivered as coils

p Requirements with regard to freedom of coil breaks

Weld seams

If not otherwise agreed upon, steel strip may be delivered with weld seams (with the exception of

electrical steel strips; see chapter on weld seams).

The position of the weld seam is usually marked with a hole in the center line of the strip (at a distance

of less than 300 mm from the weld seam). Other methods of designating the weld seam are subject to

special agreement.
