For our ‘home base’, Frankfurt Airport (FRA), this means

sustainable growth and economic power for the region

Fraport allocates € 530 millions (73%) of its contract volume to local companies, with

particular emphasis on small and medium-sized enterprises.

Also Lufthansa, based at Frankfurt Airport, maintains and creates jobs in addition to adding

value to the region by allocating about € 1.6 billion of contract volume to regional suppliers

and service providers.

FRA’s singular transport access also gives us a

competitive edge when it comes to “intermodality”

Page 12: Jutta Weimar - Session 2: Non-Aeronautical Revenue Development.

With its direct access to the European motorways, FRA is

ideal for road transport of people and goods

Frankfurt Airport

is located at the crossroads of Germany’s most frequented motorways A3 (east/west) and

A5 (north/south)

is served in the summer period by about 180 buses daily

In Europe, Fraport is one of the biggest parking managers, responsible for

56,500 parking spaces including

• Messe/Trade Fair Frankfurt

• Commerzbank Arena Frankfurt

• The Airport City with special parking areas like the pink “Ladies Parking”

FRA is directly connected to two railway stations:

the long distance railway station is served by approx.185 daily ICE (high speed) trains

the regional railway station offers 230 trains daily to downtown Frankfurt and the

surroundings

Innovative concepts are offered by AIRail Check-in for over 40 airlines adjacent to the long-

distance train station. Minimum connecting time between train and flight is 40 minutes

Train travellers connecting to a LH flight have the possibility to check-in their baggage and

pick up boarding passes in advance at several railway stations

One of the world’s leading intermodal ports, FRA is also

directly linked to the European railway network

Aerotropolises are more and more becoming hubs for

sharing knowledge in the “creative age”

“In the context of globalisation, the fostering of innovation and competitiveness needs a new,

higher velocity for moving goods, people and ideas.

Therefore, connectivity matters more than ever before - and successful companies

understand this. They organise their business operations and units around economic nodes –

rather than national borders”.
