It is a profound privilege having been elected to guide Women's Council of Realtors JTHS Chapter this year! The more opportunity I have to speak with our members, the more impressed I become at the depth of the experience and talent within each of you! Now, here it is the end of March! Not only has the Governing Board executed a successful transition, with audit and 2013 budget meetings, but supported the Ways and Means committee as they held two quite successful "Fun-raisers"... Steal A Heart Valentine delivery and Major League Evening..our Spring Fund raiser. Consequently, as a Governing Board we were able to attend the Florida Real- tors/Women's Council of Realtors® State of Florida joint Mid-Winter meetings in Orlando. Due to lower attendance costs everyone on the Governing Board was able to attend some of the profes- sional development workshops and meet state leaders, gaining a broader concept of "Why Women's Council". Everyone was impressed with the material they learned during the forums, the contacts made and the support offered by State Leadership. Of course, we were extremely privileged to hear one of the last presentations by Andrew Wooten, a State Sponsor and Safety Educator for Florida Realtors and Women's Council of Real- tors for many years. We learned that vacant property may not really be vacant and how to give squatters or vagrants inside due warning, how to be mindful getting in and out of our cars and open house safety... Andrew was killed while on an educational cruise with the Jacksonville Chapter just a month later. We will carry his warnings and credo with us always. May brings a trip for the 3 Ps....Past, Present and Future Presidents to the NAR/Women's Council of Realtors® mid year meetings in Washington, DC. Here we will be able to continue our education at more wonderful forums - bringing the information learned back to our members, attend the NAR Trade show, bring home our Chapter Award for 2012, and spend time with our local Sen- ate and Congressional representatives through the NAR Hill visits. Last year, while waiting for the elevator for Visitors to the Senate, one occupant of the Senators car beckoned to me to board with them and then asked, "Tell us what issues the Realtors in Florida are facing in this housing market" I had the proverbial 4 seconds of elevator time to respond. Now that our "Major League Evening" at Roger Dean Stadium was such a fun, successful event - we are moving on to help organize the District III Forum on June 10 at PGA National Resort and Spa. Amy Worth-Paul, President, Women's Council of Realtors, State of Florida will be the luncheon speaker, followed by Dennis Giannetti for a mid year energy boost! Great speakers, good food and fun auction items too! Plus a chance to reconnect or meet members from St. Lucie, Martin and Greater Palm Beach! And since we will be offering a PMN course "Harnessing the Power" taught by our own area's dynamic teacher, Tony Macaluso (wife Nancy is Past President, State of Florida and a secondary member with our chapter!!!!) on the following day - perhaps members from out of our area! Throughout all our activities, we have been supported by wonderful sponsors...stepping up this year, before they were asked!!! I know you will continue to include them as Business Partners on your team! Their level of professionalism is unparalleled. ‘The Shining Light’ 2013 First Quarter Newsletter What’s Online Have you been to our site lately? ‘Rally in Tally’ Pack your overnight bag, grab few friends and drive to Tallahassee for the first ever Rally with over

2000 excited and enthusiastic Realtors. Each year the Great American Realtor Days are held at our State

Capitol. It is an educational few days with lots of history, touring the old capitol building which is now a

museum, plus seeing the newer capital and state building. Don’t forget your camera!

You will meet realtors from all parts of Florida, but the best part is meeting and shaking hands and

having your picture taken with your State Legislators and state senators. Most of the main issues that will be

discussed will be Insurance and Property Taxes. Our Governor, Ric Scott will be there as well as the Florida

Realtors state president Dean Asher and his team.

After all these events there is a terrific Block Party starting at 5:00pm with seafood, drinks and great

music. The following day, after a box lunch in the Capital Court Yard, you will get ready to take part in the

‘Rally in Tally’. This is a first time march and one that will make a difference on the issues we as Realtors

have been campaigning about for some time.

This fabulous two days starts Tuesday April 9th thru April 10th. There is a free bus that is going up

on Wednesday April 10th for the day and the Rally and returning about 4:00pm, it will leave from St. Lucie at

6:00am.

I suggest you spend at least one night in Tallahassee, you will enjoy every minute there. Reserve a

room today and don't miss this great opportunity .

WAYS AND MEANS Committee 2013

WOW !!!!! this quarter has been a freight train for our ways and means committee. February found us wrapped

up in balloons as we delivered a valentine card with a heart box of candy and a heart shaped balloon to many recipients.

We teamed up two per car and brought surprise and happiness to friends, family, and clients of Realtors and affiliates. It

was a successful fundraiser for our chapter. We got together afterwards to share funny and sad stories of our adventure in

the rain. One member almost broke a knee in a fall and another got lost in an unfamiliar neighborhood way south, but we

laughed through it all.

We barely had time to finalize that fundraiser before jumping into the next exciting event. Friday, March 22nd

brought us to Roger Dean Stadium for the Mets VS. Marlins game. If you missed this event just ask a member who was

there how much fun it was. For the low cost of $45.00 a ticket we had a major ball game, (Katie Newitt got to throw the

first pitch as the major sponsor and gave it to one of her co workers). Kudos to Katie.

We enjoyed ball park dining of hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans, slaw, sauerkraut, drinks, cookies etc. at the

party deck. We had excellent seats for the game although many of us stayed at the party deck as the view of the game was

great. The auction was successful lots of nice items donated by our members and community and seemed like most peo-

ple won a few items. You could get an arm length of tickets 30 for $20.00.

Now for the special raffle $10.00 a ticket got you a tub of liquor, 30 bottles of wine and whiskey beautifully

decorated. When the drawing was held “ DRUM ROLL PLEASE.” Our own LIZ WOODY was the ex-cited winner. Liz

jumped up and down in disbelief that she had won. Many thanks to Joe Zibelli who organized and got all the booze for

the raffle.

Along the line of kudos there are many #1’s, thanks to Pat Overton who was chairman of the event and secured

many of the sponsors. Thank you to all of our sponsors who we could not do without. Bobby Tobin and I chaired the

Auction. We had 25 nice items thanks to our members who donated auction items. We got lots of compliments on the

decorations of the auction table. I did baseball table tent cards and popcorn bags for the tickets. Bobby Tobin donated

four baskets and I donated four items. So many people to thank, as always our members come through to make our fund-

raising events successful. Many thanks to all.
