What’s the Buzz with the VP’s News

Fundraising Cecilia Hudnet, 2nd Vice President

A NIGHT OF WHITE ICE - 2014 “A Night of Giving” November 8, 2014 Loxahatchee River Center / http://www.loxahatcheeriver.org/environmental_center.php Event of the year for 2014.

This will be our First White Party Charitable Event. The party will take place at Loxahatchee River Center and will benefit One Voice for Children – GFWC Florida Juniors. Our goal is to have 100 + local professionals such as doctors, lawyers, financial advisors, publicist, athletes, local celebrities and other charitable professionals will be in attendance. With the anticipated attendance and our potential for sponsorship dollars, our goal for 2014 is to raise $10,000. for this great charity. Be a part of this fun and charitable event by start promoting the event. The price for the event will be $75.00 per person. Let’s keep in mind that Fundraising and Development is about people and relationships. Use those connections remember each member has a wide circle of friends and contacts.

1. Searching: Let’s think about people we know as potential donors. How many care about the cause that our club is supporting? Do they support the work that we and our fellow members do in our community: Passion and commitment often go further than wealth when seeing a reliable giver. Let’s make sure that we have each member reaching out to our community for donations that will be use in our Silent Auction. We will have items that will be raffle as well.

2. Developing: Potential donors should be cultivated as “friends”. Show sincere gratitude for the interest shown by potential donors. Share as much information as you can, be active listener, and answer any questions as thoroughly as possible. If you do not know the answer please obtain their information and I will get back to them with an answer.

3. Asking: This is the most difficult step, because most people do not like to ask-or be asked- for donations or money. We like to think of financial donations as the result of free, individual choices of what causes we want to support. However let’s remember there are other jobs in the process that may be more appropriate, and satisfactory, for other members. Fundraising is a Team Effort.

Additional information will be emailed regarding check in, when to report, what can and cannot be brought in, tee shirts, etc. Sheryl Molter will be responsible for the Sunfest money and reconciliation.
