we are quite certain that the sequester, the affordable care act (obamacare), and the survival of iPM into the future is heavy on your minds. these are what keep us awake each night because these are what threaten the survival of our practices. these are what are threatening our Future. Due to all the quarries we are facing, including extinction of iPM through ncDs, LcDs, the asiPP 15th annual Meeting entitled “iPM: strategies to Prevent Falling over the cliff,” will likely be the last annual Meeting held in washington. Beginning next year, the annual Meeting will be moved to different locations. our Legislative sessions, if they exist in the future, will be held separately. this year will be our last Legislative session in conjunction with the annual Meeting and we have also modified it for your convenience. Day 1 of the annual Meeting starts with a historic, never to be repeated, session featuring two of the greatest iPM founders, Prithvi raj, MD and gabor racz, MD, covering the history of our evolution from the beginning to the rapid growth that followed. the eminent pain specialist and professor, Dr. Marc huntoon, will follow by discussing what is foreseen in the academic circles: opioids, interventions, or extinction of the specialty of interventional pain management. we will also present the views from a new physician and discuss some of the new regulations we must implement. the first lecture on sunday is by well-known speaker and friend of the late and great, surgeon general, c. everett koop, MD. robert Laszewski will present a lecture entitled, “the affordable care act (obamacare): strategies for survival of independent Practice in the era of regulation and empowered insurance and hospital industry.” this lecture should be quite enlightening as Dr. koop once said, “i have known no one with a better grasp of what’s going on in washington than Bob Laszewski...” this will be followed by need-to-know lectures covering the many changes in regulations in coding, billing, and quality parameters; fraud, abuse, compliance; transformational documentation, as well as exciting and illuminating discussions about our survival into the future. even the lunches and afternoon sessions will be packed full of exciting learning opportunities!

as you know, asiPP has worked tirelessly on a multitude of issues for the survival of interventional pain management. as we stated, this will be your last opportunity to participate in the traditional annual Meeting Legislative session and capitol hill visits. we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and please attend the meeting with your colleagues, employees, family and friends. this is an important meeting for you and your future, in fact, it is “the meeting of the decade that you can’t afford to miss.” Don’t miss this historic meeting and your chance to learn how to survive into the future. thank you.
