SUMMER SCHEDULE AT ST. STAN'S...

The summer months bring schedule changes to most parishes. While our Mass schedule has remained unchanged, we have had the practice for the last 3 or 4 years of not using the Hall at 11:00 Mass because the numbers of people at this Mass decreases during the summer. There are many factors involved: vacations, travel, people coming to an earlier Mass or on Saturday evenings among other reasons. It also helps because the availability of our Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Ushers and Altar Servers is also effected by vacations and summer travel. Beginning the first weekend in July through (and including) Labor Day weekend, we will only open the Hall at the 11:00AM (or other Masses) if all seats in the Church are filled before Mass begins and in those cases, the Ushers will be instructed to open the Curtain and put on the lights. It will also save us a bit on electricity and air-conditioning,but more importantly, it will allow us to all be in one room to celebrate Mass together. Thank you for your understanding. Have a blessed summer, a well-deserved vacation, safe travels and a safe return to the Parish that you have made your home. As an aside, remember that there is never “a vAcation from our vOcation of being disciples!” When you travel, check www.Masstimes.org for Masses at your destination. A suggestion: call the parish number listed there to make sure the schedule listed is accurate.

IS RETURNING IN THE FALL!!! Once again this fall, our Faith Formation program will be offering Pre-K 4 and Kindergarten children of our parish the opportunity to come to know Jesus through the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. This special approach to faith formation is based on the conviction that God and the child are in relationship.

Classes will begin in the fall and will be held on Sundays (schedule TBA) from 9:30 – 10:45am in the Faith Formation building. If you are interested in registering your child or have questions about the program, please contact the Faith Formation office and be sure to look for our displays about the program over the summer.

Class size is limited, so don’t delay! “The Good Shepherd calls His own sheep by name

and leads them out.” – John 10:3 Is God calling your child to join His flock?

PRAYER FOR OUR COUNTRY THROUGH THE INTERCESSION OF MARY IMMACULATE

As we approach month of July, let us always remember to pray for our beloved country with this most beautiful prayer!

Mary, the Immaculate Conception, is the patroness of the United States with this title, declared so officially by the first Council of Baltimore in 1846. The following is an excerpt from a prayer written in the late 1700’s and has timeless application for us all.

Most Holy Trinity, we put the United States of America into the hands of Mary Immaculate in order that she may present the country to you. Through her we wish to thank you for the great resources of this land and for the freedom which has been its heritage. Through the intercession of Mary, have mercy on the Catholic Church in America. Grant us peace. Have mercy on our President and on all the officers of our government. Grant us a fruitful economy, born of justice and charity. Have mercy on capital and industry and labor. Protect the family life of the nation. Guard the precious gift of many religious vocations. Through the intercession of our Mother, have mercy on the sick, the tempted, sinners—on all who are in need. Mary, Immaculate Virgin, our Mother, patroness of our land, we honor you and give ourselves to you. Protect us from every harm. Pray for us, that acting always according to the will of your divine Son, we may live and die pleasing to God. Amen.

(Excerpt from a prayer attributed to Archbishop John Carroll, first bishop of the United States)
