UPCOMING EVENTS!

ICON/Anaheim, CA/July 2-6, 2014 1

®

Greetings LaMissTenn District Key Clubbers,

On July 4, 1776, the United States declared

independence from Great Britain. America has held the

tradition of observing its independence through the Fourth

of July holiday. Just as America is rooted in tradition, Key

Club has valued the tradition of celebrating the success

and importance of service for seventy-one years and

counting by hosting an annual international convention.

The LaMissTenn District Board and members from clubs

throughout the district will attend the convention July 2-6,

2014, in Anaheim, California.

I recently had the privilege of attending the 96th

Annual LaMissTenn District Kiwanis Convention in Jackson,

Mississippi, that took place June 20-22, 2014. The Kiwanians

are very enthused and interested in Key Club’s plans for the

upcoming year!

In this issue of Keeping Tabs, you can find more

information about the 71st Annual Key Club International

Convention and Kiwanis relations.

I wish you all a wonderful Fourth of July! Enjoy the day

with family and friends, scrumptious BBQ, and amazing

fireworks!

Yours in Service,

Tabitha Kearns

The 71st Annual Key Club International Convention will take place July 2-

6, 2014, in Anaheim California! The LaMissTenn District Board and members

from clubs throughout the district will be attending. During the international

convention, Key Clubbers will be voting for the upcoming year’s international

board as well as proposed amendments to the Key Club International

Bylaws. Even though convention is only for a few days, the friendships made

with Key Clubbers from other districts last a life time. Members attend

workshops to learn more about the organization and inventive service.

Themed dances add energy and enthusiasm to the event!

Since the LaMissTenn District will be in sunny California, we will also be

touring the fabulous Los Angeles area. Tour sites include The Santa Monica

Pier, Disney Land, Rodeo Drive, Walk of Fame, Hollywood, and much more!

This July, make your service explode! Service does not have to be extraordinary or news

breaking. It just has to affect one life at a time.

Did you know that Landscape Structures Inc. is one of Key Club International’s Vision

Partners?

Landscape Structures Inc. has been creating innovative playground equipment since 1971.

The Kiwanis family partners with Landscape Structures to bring play and playgrounds to

communities, especially on its signature day of service: Kiwanis One Day. You can learn more

at playlsi.com. See how your club can support this Vision Partner and even bring a

playground set to your community! ~information provided by Key Club International

Explosive Service

Show Your “K”

I recently spoke on behalf of the LaMissTenn

District Key Club at the 96th Annual

LaMissTenn District Kiwanis Convention held

in Jackson, Mississippi. As Key Clubbers, it is

important for us to establish relationships

with local Kiwanians. Since we are part of

the K Family, Kiwanians act as our parents

and offer constant guidance. They are a

great support team and are always willing

to help us achieve our goals. I encourage

you to visit your local Kiwanis club this

summer and perform service with them.

Kiwanians are some of the most humble and

incredible people I know, and I am forever

grateful for their dedication to Key Club.

Thank you, Kiwanians, for being our number

one fan!
