Transcript of July 2015 newsletter format
As we enter July I hope the rains will subside so the kids can spend some time outside exploring all that our
community has to offer with our walkways, ponds, and some outside water fun. July and August are also the
times to update forms, so throughout the next few months you will be asked to update these. Please bear with us
as we have tried to spread out so you don’t have to update everything at the same time.
We also have a Parent Facebook page for parents to communicate, set up play dates, and share information. If
you are not a part of this group, please let us know as it is a closed group that is by invitation only.
Have a great Fourth of July! Jeni Hoover

July 2015 Newsletter
Healthy Tidbit for the Month:
In our classroom we have been talking about how
vegetables grow and taste. Attached to your newsletter is a
sheet that you can do with your child at home to talk about
the food groups and trying new foods of different colors.
Challenge this Month: Complete the form and return it to your child’s teacher by
Friday, July 10th to be entered a drawing for two healthy
eating cookbooks full of recipes you and your child can
make at home together.
Kendal Intergenerational News:
The children have been enjoying doing Yoga with the
residents on Thursday afternoons. We have also added a
Movement Class on Tuesday afternoons. Mondays and
Wednesdays we have been visiting and exploring the
courtyard garden with our Grandfriends.
Ask your child what their favorite part of Intergen this
month!
From the KELC Teachers:
From the Classroom:
Summer is in full swing! We have been busy talking about all things summer from camping, Independence Day, and
bugs. The children have been really excited about camping in the room in our dramatic play area. They have been
busy cooking s’mores on our pretend fire and telling ghost stories. We had our Community picnic which was so
much fun! Thank you to all the families who were able to join in the fun despite the rain! The children also
participated in Fun Fitness Week with our Grandfriends here at Kendal. We said “Goodbye” to many of our friends
as they go off to enjoy long summer vacations, but have said, “Hello” to many new friends as they start their
adventures here at Kendal with us. We are working on getting a date for a fieldtrip to the Zoo so be on the lookout
for more information. We are excited to start walking around and explore Oberlin. We are going to be visiting at the
Art Museum, exploring Tappan Square, and one day enjoying ice cream at Gibson’s! We will also start walking over
to New Russia Township Park. The children are very excited about playing on the rock wall and playground.
We hope everyone continues to have an amazing summer!
