Agricultural Education Grants

All State Grants are subject

to the 10% holdback including:

• Ag. Extended Day

• Ag. Extended Year

• Young Farmer

Extended Day

• Extended Day is calculated as 1/8 of the State Salary Schedule

• The Grant covers 100% of the salary

• This Grant is subject to the 10% Holdback

• This equates to 19 hours

Example: State Salary $48,000 / 8 = $6,000

$6,000 is for 190 hours

Grant is for $5,400 or 171 hours

Extended Year

• Extended Year is based on the daily rate of the State Salary Schedule

• The Grant is a 50/50 split between the local system and the State

• The Grant is reduced by 10%Example: State Salary $48,000 / 190 days =

$252.63 per day We reduced the daily rate to meet the 10% holdback – not the number of days

Young Farmer

• The Young Farmer salary is calculated using this formula example: T4 - L6

State Salary Schedule - $50,285 - 190 days

Extended Year – 38 Days - $10,057

Extended Day - $6,286

Total - $66,628

Young Farmer

• The Grant covers 70% of the cost of the Young Farmer position plus $3,000 travel

• The Grant is subject to the 10% holdback

• The decision was made to reduce the travel portion of the grant to zero and to take the balance of the holdback from the extended day portion of the salary.
