• Take 3" x 6 1/2" rectangle from Fabric H and sew long side to the long side of 2" x 6 1/2" rectangle from Fabric G. (Diagram 1a)

• Next sew the piece you made in Diagram 1a to long side of 3" x 4 1/2" rectangle from Fabric F. (Diagram 1b)

Sew all rights sides together with ¼" seam allowance. Press open.

• Take 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" rectangle from Fabric E and sew the long side to the long side of 1 1/2" x 5 1/2" strip from Fabric D.

• Take the piece you made in Diagram 5 and sew it to the piece you made in Diagram 2.

(Follow Diagram 6)

• Next take 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" rectangle from Fabric D and sew the short side to the short side of 11/2" x 3 1/2" rectangle from Fabric H.

• Take 3" x 5 1/2" rectangle from Fabric B and sew it to the piece you made in Diagram 7.

• Take the piece you made in Diagram 8 and sew the short end to the short end of 3" x 4" rectangle from Fabric A.

• Take the piece you made in Diagram 9 and sew the long end to the long end of the piece you made in Diagram 6. (Follow Diagram 10)

• Take the piece you created in Diagram 1a and 1b and sew to the top of the piece you made in Diagram 10.

• Lay pieces from Diagram 15 on top of the two 8 1/2" x 9" rectangles from Fabric G.

• Pin in place. (Follow Diagram 17)

• Now pin the front and back of the journal cover together with right sides facing each other.

• Take one 17 1/2" rope 6 1/2" down from the top of the journal cover and sandwich in between the front and back cover. Follow the same process on the other side of the journal with the other 17 1/2" rope.

• Sew all the way around the journal cover making sure the rope is securely inside and not in the way and leave a 4" hole at the bottom of the journal cover to turn the right side of the journal cover through.

• Pressflatandturnunderunsewnportionandhandsew closed.

• To create the pocket in the back of your journal cover, take two 8 1/2" x 9 from Fabric A and sew together on one of the short ends.

• Flip and press seam. Topstitch 1/2" away from the top of the seam.

• Pin pocket to 9" x 12" rectangle from Fabric G. (Follow Diagram 13)

• Lay front of journal with right side facing up, then place back of journal on top with the pocket side laying down.

• Sew to the left side of the journal. Flip and press seam. Now the outside of your journal cover is complete! If you want to add embroidery designs to your cover do so now!

• To create the inside cover take 6" x 12" rectangle from Fabric G and from H. For both pieces fold under one long side 1/4" press and fold again another 1/4" and press. Topstitch as close to the edge as possible.

• Sew the two 8 1/2" x 9" rectangles from Fabric G together. Press seam open. (Diagram 16)

• Next fuse fusible to wrong side of the fabric.
