Florida Couple,4 Children LostIn Plane Plunge" NEW ORLEANS (UPI) - Aplane carrying six members ofa Florida family attempting to.land in a light haze crashedinto Lake P o n c h a r t r a i nWednesday night. The CoastGuard said today there were nosigns of survivors.
Bill Odom, the assistantcontroller at the Coast Guard'sRescue Center, said the sixpersons on board the planewere a man. his wife and fourchildren from Fort Lauderdale.Fla. Odom said he could notrelease the identity of thefamily.
Odom said the control towerat the Lakefront Airport hadnot been in direct communica-tion with the private plane butit did monitor its last radiomessage broadcast, when theplane was 41-- miles from theshore of the 18-mile-wide. 30-mile-long lake.
"Mayday! Mayday! Am overthe water and about to splash,".the pilot radioed in his finalmessage.
At that moment the planedisappeared from the controltower's radar screens.

Shippenville - based statepolice report they are in-vestigating the theft of two 12-inch audio speakers from aplatform inside the auditoriumof the Allegheny-Clarion ValleyHigh School.
The theft was believed tohave occurred between April 10and 17. Troopers ask anyonewith information relative to theincident to contact them.
