.This report/is an update of the "Ten-Year Student Enrollment Gharadteristics"../-
that was originally prepared .December 1980; The source document is the
Student Enrollment Characteristics 'Report. The more a;railable and comparableS
data for 1971-72 through 19,80-81 are for students in credict programs, and,
,therefore, non-credit data aretot included in this teport. Total FTE data
have been available since the college opened, so it is reported, in its
entirety in Table 2.

Lane Community College is still reflecting trends that are occurringhation-'
wi.de: the average age is increasing, more females'are attending, part-time
status is increasing while full-time status 'is declining, they average student
75load is decreasing and the minority Atudent population, is *lowing some growth.
It is important to emphasize that these are'dverall trends for a ten-year
period and do not reflect changes that occurred specifically between 1979-$0
and 1980-81.
HarE: Most of the tables reflect fall term data only because these
data have historidallbeen used as indicatorsof the characteristics
.of our student population.
(
Highlights vlhich are taken from the followiri,k tables are summarized below:
--- The totalFTE was 5821.4 in 1971:172 and 9520:3 in 1980-81: an increage of
63.5%. (Table .1")

In'fall team of 1911-72 we had a total of 5445 students (credit only). In
fall terin40 1980-81 'we had 8018 students: an increase of 47.2 %. The
credit fall FTE for the same period rose from 1538.2 to 209817: A 36.4%' -
increase. The part-time students accounted for more of this growth -than
did the full-time students., (Table 2 and Table 3)
--- Over the as ten years non-credit FTE,.has had a larger,increasW214.6%)0
than that oforedit FTE (34.6%).. In the lAst five years the largest
,increase for non-credit FTE was between 1976-77 and 1977-78 (26.1%) and
.for crpdit FTE between 1978-79 and 1979 -80 (9.8'16. (Tabl',2)0
