Walter Bentley a.k.a Lethal L ightning
Walter was born believing he was dest ined for greatness, born into aworld with far too many pompous, over zealous super-heroes, spineless sycophantswho were essent ially glori fied boy scouts. Oh yes then could catch a stray missilewhen it really mattered, but most of the t ime they just helped ladies across the
country and cleared debris off t rain t racks. And the vi llains werent much better, enthusiast ic practical jokers who thoughts all you needed to be evil was a sinisterlaugh and a weak handshake. But Walt er was different , disregarding any sense ofmorality or ethics, he would be the greatest and evilest super-villain to have
terrorized the USA, and maybe the world!

The Final Scipt
I t is a clear and cold night. San Francisco sits in early March, its misty and damp. The famous Heroes Cemetery lies at the eastern end of Golden Gate Park, near
the baseball field. Usually t he hum of traffic can be heard from the nearbyLincoln way, but tonight it s oddly quiet.I nside the cemetery however, all is not quiet. A figure slips over the side wall, landing light ly; a cape on its back making it seems like some large bat. I t fl it sbetween the gravestones, making its way towards the large mausoleum situated atthe centre of the cemetery. Emerging into the light cast by the mausoleumsinterior, Walt er Bentley is revealed. He is thin, limp, his armsand legs overlong,
while his back seems unable to support his overly large head. His face is t riangularin shape, a bulging forehead tapering to an ugly point of a chin. Large thickspectacles sit at the end of his large, permanently dripping nose, behind which
beady, weak eyes stare in awe. His mouth hangs open, large uneven teeth fillingthe gap. His costume is clearly handmade but is certainly the result of a lot ofeffort ; a large purple lighting flash is blazoned upon his chest, declaring him to beLethal Lightning, his chosen alias. He checks an old newspaper art icle that
confirms the burial of Captain Majest ico in the cemetery along with his renownedHero Hat. I t also shows an image of the mausoleums statue. He looks slightlyunsett led at the size of the structure, as if it dwarfed the image he held in his mind. However, he musters his courage and enters inside.

The Final Scipt
The inside of the mausoleum is warmly lit by wall mounted braziers, theirfl ickering light distort ing the interiors shadows. At the far end of t he hall sits the
grave. I t s ornate, raised upon an elegant plinth. Towering over stands a statue ofthe man himself, standing as an eternal sent inel over his body, an eternal sent inelover t he cemetery, the city, the world, over morality i tself. Majest icos handsomeface smiles confident ly as his stone-carved eyes st ill manage their charmingtwinkle. On his head sits a stone replica of his hat, the famousHero hat, the alienartefact that enhanced his already impressive powers. I t that hat that has broughtWalt er here tonight, for it sits in the tomb at t he statues feet.
However, in-between the coffin and the ent rance sit a series of safe guards todeter any unwarranted intruder. A steep ramping leading to threesets of crushingpillars that open and close wit h mighty force. Beyond that is a gauntlet of dart s
followed by a cunningly wrought floor of st rong paving stones along side weakones that will crumble and ditch the walker in a pit of spikes. Finally a series ofjets that cause wall of fire to fill the hall .

The Final SciptWalter gulps, his weedy body shaking. Then he imagines the hat upon his
own head and his eyes are filled with greed and malice. To convince himself hecloses his eyes and imagines himself overcoming the lethal assault course. I n his
minds eye he quickly scales the ramp, his muscular legs pumping himself up it .Timing his leap perfectly, he sails through the gap in the first set of crushing pillars. He lands roll ing across the lower surface of the second one, jumping off j ust as itscounterpart comes smashing down. I t seems that he wont make the third one in
t ime. But no! Using his strength, he holds it up long enough to diver out. Sailingthrough the air, he perfect ly distorts himself t o avoid the hail of darts. Landing at arun he leaps across the paving, jumping from solid stone to solid stone with ut ter
most confidence. His last jump takes him swift ly through the rapidly forming wallof fire. He lands, the edges of his cape singed. H is muscles bulge as he stands talland proud, his chest jut t ing out . His handsome yet wise face sneers with self-confidence as he sweeps his fiery hair from his eyes.
Walt er shakes himself out of his vision, and the reality of his skinny form, l imp
limbs and spotty, unpleasant face becomes all too clear. Walter on the contraryseems convinced of his success. He takes his first bold step on the ramp. Suddenly,an unseen t rapdoor in the roof opens and a large bolder drops through. I t crashesinto the other end of the ramp, which is revealed to be a cunningly concealed see-saw. The other end catapult s Walter through a convenient ly placed hole in the roof.
