Job Description
1. Job Title: Events Assistant
Reports to: Events Fundraiser
Accountable to: Community Fundraising Manager
Salary: Band 2
Hours: 37.5 per week
Date: October 2016
Contract: Fixed term contract for 3 months. Possibility to be permanent subject to future funding
2. Job Summary
The post holder will be a self motivated individual with excellent communication skills, organisational skills, energy and enthusiasm. This person will be an integral member of the Fundraising team, with particular responsibility for organising existing community focused events and assisting the Events Fundraiser to organise High End and Mass Participation events. The Events Assistant will also play an ambassadorial role for Ashgate Hospicecare so will need to be confident at public speaking.

4. Main Duties & Responsibilities
To assist with the planning of an annual programme of events and campaigns which support individual, community and corporate giving.
To plan and organise community focused events within the annual programme, including risk assessments, marketing, advertising and resources for these events.
To research and develop new community focused events as part of the departmental plan to grow Events income to £500k by 2019.
To liaise and work with external supporter groups, including community groups and schools and to assist them in the planning and promotion of their events as necessary.
To source and support volunteers to assist with events as required. To work to strict deadlines and targets within an agreed budget. To assist with the monitoring and evaluation of results in line with the departmental
budget and strategic plan. To proactively source participants for places that the hospice has purchased on
challenge events. To support people in the community doing fundraising events and challenges for
Ashgate Hospicecare To liaise sensitively with the family and friends of people that have died in the hospice
who wish to be involved with fundraising. To host sign up stands for events and present in front of supporter groups to spread
awareness of Ashgate Hospicecare To wear the costume for Ashley Bear, the Ashgate Hospicecare mascot. To ensure security of cash in office and at events, and ensure swift transfer to the
Finance Department. To have a flexible approach to the working day and be prepared to attend some

evening/weekend/bank holiday presentations and events. To help train other members of staff and volunteers. To be aware of all Hospice policies and procedures and comply with all Hospice policies
including those relating to Health & Safety, Fire, Data Protection, IT and Standing Financial Instructions.
To maintain an up to date knowledge of charity legislation, and government initiatives relating to the non-profit making sector and to work to the Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice.
To perform other duties as required by the Fundraising and Communications Department.

Through the appraisal process, agree individual objectives and develop a personal development plan linked to team and individual objectives.
Attend external events such as NAHF meetings and Institute of Fundraising training Demonstrate Continuing Professional Development, develop new skills as required.
6. Communications And Working Relationships
Internal: All staff and volunteers; department managers, senior management team and trustees
External: Handling events enquiries and requests from the general public, liaising with external suppliers
