5. Leadership and Teamwork in Large Industry Projects in Teradyne Inc. (9/2001 to 8/2006)

From 9/2001 to 12/2002, participated in the Reliability Review Board formed by senior managers, principal engineers and market analysts to accelerate the new product introduction of high-end semiconductor testing equipment. Dr. Jin led the initiatives to develop and implement latent failure prediction models, non-fault-found forecasting models, corrective action effectiveness models, and reliability-inventory allocation models in Teradyne Inc. The project resulted in 10-15% cost reduction in operations and after-sales support, as well as winning the royalty and satisfactions of strategic customers, including Intel, IBM, Texas Instruments, and Samsung, among others.

From 1/2003 to 3/2005, worked with the manufacturing/operations team to implement environmental screening process and develop spare parts inventory and remanufacturing policy to deploy the maintenance and after-sales services for low-volume high-mix products in the global market place spanning North America, Europe, East and South Asian.

From 4/2005 to 8/2006, served as a key member in the Lean Six-Sigma Service Supply Chain Operations Project team consisting of more than 20 internal and external customers. The project was championed by senior management from the Operations Department and the Engineering Division, and the team reported directly to Teradyne’s vice president. The project was able to increase the first installation success rate from 86% to 94% on high-end products (i.e. FLEX and MicroFLEX semiconductor test equipment) as well as to reduce the final testing cycle time from 4.3 days to 2.8 days on FLEX, and 2.8 days to 2.2 days on MicroFLEX. In addition, the product reliability was doubled compared to the initial shipment, and the expected savings for Teradyne from this project exceeded one million dollars.

Note: Teradyne is a world leading semiconductor testing equipment manufacturer with annual revenue of US$1.6 billion in 2016, visit at http://www.teradyne.com/
