As we approach the time of the year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus I

would like to look at this glorious event from a different point of view. We’ll not look at the virgin birth in Bethlehem but the BIG picture. Let’s start with a simple statement Paul made in his 2nd letter to

the saints in Corinth.

2 Corinthians 8:9 NET For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that

although he was rich, he became poor for your sakes, so that you by his

poverty could become rich.

That is a simple statement, but there is so much there! To start seeing more of the BIG picture, here’s the beginning of

John’s Gospel.

John 1:1 NET In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and

the Word was fully God. 2 The Word was with God in the beginning. 3 All things

were created by him, and apart from him not one thing was created that has been

created. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of mankind. 5 And the light

shines on in the darkness, but the darkness has not mastered it.

6 A man came, sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness

to testify about the light, so that everyone might believe through him. 8

He himself was not the light, but he came to testify about the light. 9 The true

light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the

world, and the world was created by him, but the world did not recognize him.

11 He came to what was his own, but his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who have received him — those

who believe in his name — he has given the right to become God's children 13 — children not born by human parents or

by human desire or a husband's decision, but by God.

14 Now the Word became flesh and took up residence among us. We saw his

glory — the glory of the one and only, full of grace and truth, who came from

the Father. The Word, God the Son, Created

everything! All we see, touch, smell, hear, imagine was created by Jesus. At the perfect time He left Heaven to

walk on & with His Creation. Paul writes to the saints in Philippi &

broadens our view.

Philippians 2:5 NET You should have the same attitude toward one another that

Christ Jesus had, 6 who though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality

with God as something to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature. 8 He humbled

himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death — even death on a cross!

9 As a result God exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name,

10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow — in heaven and on earth

and under the earth — 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord

to the glory of God the Father.

After Jesus was raised from the dead He went back to Paradise in Heaven.

Acts 1:9 NET After he had said this, while they were watching, he was lifted up and a cloud hid him from their sight. 10 As they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenly two men in white clothing stood near them 11 and

said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same

way you saw him go into heaven."

He is coming back in the Glory a King deserves. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 NET For

the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a shout of command, with the

voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be suddenly caught up together with them

in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord.

Do you see the BIG picture now? Jesus, God the Son,

created everything! He humbled Himself leaving Paradise in

Heaven to live on, in, & amongst His creation.

He allowed His creation to put him to death in order to save His creation.

He’s coming back for those who accept His gift of Salvation. Remember today & always who Jesus is and the BIG view of

all He’s done.
