In my work I explore rhythm and balance within linear compositions. I draw
with nib and ink, brush and acrylic, wool and thread, to study multiple aspects
of lines. My working process is focused and yet intuitive, I don’t follow any
particular rule or grid. However, I frequently switch between drawing and
observing, to ensure a harmonious formation of lines.
Through drawing I continuously study the appearance of line. I use different
sizes of tools and tones of colour, and apply them with different speed and
quantity. While drawing I focus on finding the right balance between pace and
precision in order to create harmonious yet dynamic structures.
I tend to draw on paper, but also create work in real space. I intuitively
develop three-dimensional installations, by visiting a space and immediately
sketching a rough idea for it. I continue with more precise planning and
technical preparation due to my attempt to incorporate specific parts of a given
environment – I do not intend to make architectural changes. The final piece
however happens on site, by working freely with the actual space.
Additionally, I make screen prints by using existing drawings and printing
multiple layers of them. During this repetitive printing process I aim for
density and movement, which changes with every artwork I create.

“The keynote of Jenny’s work is the exploration and perception of spatial
structures, visualised in terms of lines and shapes. Whether she works with
drawings or with installations, her creative process is based on a two and
three-dimensional approach, so the space is always explored by several angles,
originating a multifaceted work. This happens either with the use of screenprint
technique which allows Jenny to overlay and superimpose geometric drawings,
creating a structured but at the same time coincidental conglomerate of lines,
as well as with string installation.”

curator and writer at Artistdock
“Jenny Keuter, a Berlin-based artist, works with various media and technique,
approaching her main artistic interest of the exploration of the space from many
angles. She studies the possibilities and applications of space both in multi-
dimensional works like installations and physical objects, and in prints, draw-
ings and paintings. She does not only work with spatiality and visualisation of
spatiality, but also with other senses, to show how different aspects are connected
to the perception of space. Her works combine abstract and land art – a curious
combination that fuses deliberate planning and application of the composition,
and certain randomness and spontaneity.”

“Jenny Keuter is a German artist exploring spatiality through drawings on paper
and installations in situ. Through structure, perspective and proportion, she
portrays the various characteristics of spatial relationships. Her recent
geometrical installation, entitled Day, Night, Light, captures these elements
in a beautiful and playful manner. Using the space of a greenhouse, she installed
different gradients and frequencies of thread to re-imagine the space and
illuminated it at night to bring the colors further into play. Keuter’s creative
sense of space invites us to observe previously unobserved lines and angles, as
well as gives us a wider sense of our own spatial interactions in interesting
new ways.”

“Jenny Keuter is a Berlin based visual artist focused on exploring and interpreting
various aspects of spatiality, perspective and proportion. In collaboration with
the Super bien! project she has prepared a site-specific spatial installation made
from colorful, thin thread with different frequencies and gradients stretched
in a closed space of an ordinary greenhouse. Threads run in various directions,
some are bound together in knots, dividing the space and thus creating multiple
smaller, merging and interlacing spaces.
Viewers are encouraged and to explore the space / spaces themselves, to take
advantage of the open structure of this installation, with no fixed or “right”
viewpoint. The greenhouse is accessible to the public 24/7 and illuminated at
night, creating even more opportunities for spatial and visual exploration.”
