Principal & Founder, Jamie Durie OAM, was born in Sydney and raised in the outback town of Tom Price in Western Australia. Jamie, like most Australians, loves the outdoors and his deep connection with nature has guided him to create the ultimate outdoor living spaces. His inspiration comes from the vast natural beauty of the Australian landscape, extensive international travel and a passion for Eastern culture and lifestyle through his Sri Lankan heritage. He successfully combines these elements to create his own unique style and approach to design and infuses his design team with the same ideas and philosophies. Through Jamie’s example, the team follows his lead, creating emotional, warm spaces for people inside & out where life long memories are enjoyed.

Largely responsible for completely changing the face of landscape design in Australia, Jamie is the master of the Outdoor Room concept, inspiring a whole new generation to rediscover their gardens and integrate them as extensions of their living spaces.

In his mission to bring us back to the earth and reconnect us with nature, not only has his work blurred the boundaries where architecture meets nature, but through his 15 years of work in landscape design, he has organically bridged the gap with a seamless transition between the design disciplines that govern the interior and exterior spaces by pioneering his ‘transterior’ philosophy. Coupling his love of natural spaces, with the warmth and comfort of interior spaces without compromising one or the other, he and his team have created residential and commercial spaces that share an equal dedication to transterior harmony. This philosophy bridges the inside and outside by means of a single, innovative, design language. This organic, evolution of philosophy has led the team to become a multidisciplinary design firm that covers landscape, interior, transterior, architecture and product design.

Product design has been an organic evolution for Jamie and histeam. For years they have created bespoke custom furniture for

The DURIE DESIGN team takes advantage of an ever-growing range of renewable and socially conscious materials to design and develop functional and inspiring outdoor products. Our experienced team ensures that every product we create embraces our design philosophy of striving to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living.

A beautiful woven hanging light inspired by Aboriginal fishing baskets. This pendant light has a rigid welded brass frame with a woven artificial wicker decorative treatment

around the perimeter. The weave opens at the widest point allowing the LED internal lightsource to provide a very

This collection for RIVA 1920 was largely inspired by mid-century modern furniture with a strong natural aesthetic. The simplicity of these designs are complimented by the attention to detail enhancing the ergonomics and functionality of each piece. The sofa features an American walnut frame with premium leather cushions and an innovative timber shelf behind the backrest. The Bungalow, Ficus and Rope Stools are statement pieces on their own while also sitting cohesively within the collection—each piece combining leather, rope and timber, innovatively and seamlessly. The Tubular Bookshelf is a storage system with infinite configurations. The tubular lacquered steel or brass frame and machined recesses in each of the solid walnut shelves allow the customer to be the designer. The Tubular Table has been designed in a similar style with the positioning of the tubular frame base allowing for plenty of leg room when sitting at each end.

TUBULAR BOOKSHELF

The Tubular Bookshelf is a storage system with infinite configurations. The tubular lacquered steel or brass frame and machined recesses in each solid walnut shelves allow the customer to be the designer. The

bookshelf can be arranged in a straight or corner configuration, or even be used as a room divider. A cushion can be placed on the second row

to create a bench seat or a space can be made in the middle to house a TV unit. The limit is your imagination.

ROPE STOOL

The Rope Stool beautifully combines solid walnut timber with natural rope. The rope wraps around the solid timber core, stacking up as the timber tapers from the base towards the seat, meeting

with a simple seam line detail to one side.

Inspiration for this stool came from the buttress root of a fig tree. The stool has been CNC machined from a single piece of cedarwood, incorporating

curved concave sides to minimise weight. This means customers can lift and move the stool around with

A modular outdoor planter and seat combo featuring 2 rotationally moulded polyethylene sections with a timber seat

detail.The planter module can rotate around the seat module

allowing the customer to link modules together in a variety of configurations. It also allows the customer to rotate the planter module over the timber trim to protect it when not in use. Soil and water in the base module acts as a counter balance for the weight of the upper plant module giving the planter its unique

A rubbish bin designed for public open spaces featuring an integrated planter and slatted timber cladding. The inclusion

of a planter softens the outlook of the bin and helps to give it a more sculptural and natural look and blend more seamlessly

WICKER BLADE-WALL

The wicker wall is a modular range of outdoor panels that feature a mix of integrated top and side planting modules. Each

panel is made from a lightweight frame of welded aluminium covered in a skin of woven artificial wicker. The frames have

been designed to easily bolt together to create a multitude of configurations to suit the customer’s space requirements.

Each module can also be bolted to the ground if required. The panels are ideal to create more intimate spaces within a larger

space and can be easily reconfigured to cater for a variety of functions such as wedding and corporate functions.

A retro inspired cast cement planter module with an optional timber seat attachment. These modules have been designed

to be moved using a forklift, making them very easy to install. These modules also work well as temporary planters during

SCOOP HEX MODULAR

A range of cast cement planters and seating modules designed for outdoor spaces. The modules can be arranged in

a multitude of configurations with a mixture of planters and seating arrangements. The seating modules include a timber slat version, a textilene version and an artificial turf version.

The planter modules are available in various heights to cater for small to large species. These modules have been designed to

be moved using a forklift, making them very easy to install and rearrange.

bracket with a range of material choices for the seat area. This creates a common design language throughout a larger precinct

but allows the finish of each bench to be customized to fit within its smaller immediate surroundings. Choose a galvanized

steel finish and cast cement seat pad for a skate park, or a powder coated steel finish and rounded timber slat seat for a

family picnic area.

Blurred horizons of the beautiful natural landscape of Australia are the inspiration behind this latest collection of rugs. When

you photograph a portrait of someone, it’s nice to have the background out of focus so your attention zooms into the

subject. These exquisitely colour shaded rugs act as a beautiful backdrop to any room in the same way depth of field influences
