LGBT Pride Month is celebrated each June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots a watershed moment for the Gay Liberation Movement In recognition of this important medical education topic please join the Diversity amp Inclusion Committee for the first KU School of Medicine-Wichita LGBTQ Awareness amp Advocacy event from 530-730 pm Tuesday June 13 in the Roberts Amphitheater The event will include a roundtable discussion on LGBTQI inclusivity and awareness with members of the greater Wichita community Led by KU School of Medicine-Wichita Clinical Assistant Professor Dr Sarah Houssayni current topics relevant to medical care and LGBTQI individuals will be discussed A panel of physicians including Dr Houssayni Clinical Assistant Professor Dr Dawne Lowden and members of the LGBTQI community will share their personal accounts information about LGBTQI health as a health minority and about physicians as advocates Topics will include LGBTQI issues in parenthood sexual health and recommendations for better inclusion
Time for QampA will follow the presentation and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions about the speakers experiences and engage in dialogue Refreshments will be available This event is free and open to the public Space is limited Register now
